Volodymyr Volodymyrovich Polikarpenko (born June 9, 1972 in Zaporozhye ) is a former Ukrainian triathlete and three-time starter at the Olympic Games (2000, 2004, 2008).

Career

Polikarpenko was active as a swimmer for five years in his youth and he joined the triathlon in 1994.

In 1998 he was third at the European Triathlon Championships on the short distance.

Polikarpenko has taken part in the Summer Olympics three times so far . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney he reached 15th place, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he finished 30th and in 2008 in Beijing he finished 35th behind his compatriot Danylo Sapunow (21st place).

In 2006 he finished fifth at the ITU World Championships on the short distance triathlon.

In the German Triathlon Bundesliga , Polikarpenko started for Tri-Flow Bad Endbach . He has not appeared internationally since 2017. Polikarpenko lives with two sons in Turin (Italy).
