Yves Cordier (born July 15, 1964 ) is a former French triathlete . He is European champion in the short distance triathlon (1989) and is included in the best list of French triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

Yves Cordier is considered a French "triathlon legend". The extremely strong swimmer fought many duels with the American Mark Allen in the 1980s . In 1989 Cordier became European Triathlon Champion on the Olympic distance (1.5 km swimming, 40 km cycling and 10 km running).

Between 1987 and 1999 he won the Embrunman five times - this triathlon in the French Alps is considered to be one of the most demanding long distance races.

After the end of his active career, Cordier is now the race director of Ironman France .

He also works as a coach and trained the French triathletes Christel Robin , Delphine Pelletier and Jeanne Collonge .

His brother Jean-Gabriel Cordier was also active as a triathlete.

Yves Cordier started again after a 15-year break in August 2018 at the 35th anniversary of the Embrunman, but he could not finish the race on the long distance.
