Bernhard Kaes

Bernhard Kaes (born March 29, 1892 in Sterkrade ; † January 3, 1973 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German politician and member of the state parliament ( ZENTRUM , CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school , he completed an apprenticeship as a locksmith and then worked as a machine fitter. From 1920 to 1922 Bernhard Kaes was secretary of the Volksverein for Catholic Germany and from 1922 to 1938 managing director of the Center Party in Duisburg as well as regional chairman of the Windthorstbünde .

During the Second World War he was actively involved against the Nazis and was monitored and interrogated by the Gestapo.

Bernhard Kaes had been a founding member of the CDU since 1945 and a close confidante of Konrad Adenauer, with whom he was a close friend. He was represented in numerous bodies of the party.

From October 1947 head of the adult education center in Duisburg.

In the 50s / 60s he was a member of the WDR Broadcasting Council.

From April 20, 1947 to June 17, 1950 Kaes was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was directly elected in constituency 070 Duisburg-Altstadt.

He was a member of the city council of the city of Sterkrade in 1918, from 1922 to 1933 and from 1945 to 1947 Kaes was a city councilor in Duisburg.
