Rose Cheruiyot

Rose Cheruiyot (born July 21, 1976 ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

At the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995 , she finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run after setting a world best in the 5-km road race with 15:05 this year . The following year she was runner-up in the cross-country world championship and set her 5,000-meter best time on the track with 14:46:41 .

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney she was eleventh over 5000 m, and at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton ninth over the same distance.

At the Berlin Half Marathon in 2002, she showed with her victory in 1:09:32 that she can cope well with longer distances. After a baby break she reported back in 2005 with a victory in the 25 km from Berlin in the world best time of 1:24:46.

In 2006 she switched to the marathon route . She came second in the Hamburg marathon in 2:27:09 and won the Amsterdam marathon in 2:28:26. The 2007 season began for her with a second place in the Seoul International Marathon .

Rose Cheruiyot is married to Ismael Kirui , the 5,000m world champion in 1993 and 1995, with whom she has three children.
