Mieke Pullen

Mieke Pullen (first marriage in Hombergen ; * July 14, 1957 , † January 28, 2003 in Haaren ) was a Dutch marathon runner .

The mother of two only started running at the age of 30. The following year she was fifth in the Eindhoven marathon in 2:53:44 h and third in the Zevenheuvelenloop .

In 1990 she was second overall in the Westland Marathon Dutch marathon champion, won the Eindhoven Marathon and was again third in the Zevenheuvelenloop. The following year she won the Amsterdam Marathon and defended her title in Eindhoven. In 1992 she was fourth overall in the Rotterdam Marathon, again national marathon champion, fourth in the Maratona d'Italia and third in the Frankfurt Marathon .

In 1994 she was tenth in Rotterdam, third in the Enschede Marathon and won the Singapore Marathon . A year later she came in tenth place in Rotterdam and at the Berlin Marathon and came second in Eindhoven.

In 1996 a victory in Enschede was followed by a second place in Singapore. In 1997 she won the last edition of the Westland Marathon, became the overall winner of the Eindhoven Marathon for the third time as the Dutch champion and won the Montferland Run .

In 1998 she finished eighth in Rotterdam, defended her national title in second place in Eindhoven and won the Montferland Run again. In 1999 she was seventh in the Rome marathon and fourth in Eindhoven.

She celebrated her last great success at the 2001 World Seniors Marathon Championship in Brisbane : on her 44th birthday, she was the overall winner in 2:46:10 h.

In 2003 she had a fatal accident when she was hit by a vehicle during a training run.

Mieke Pullen was 1.65 m tall and weighed 50 kg. She was trained by her second husband Gerard Notenboom and started for the athletics department of PSV Eindhoven .
