Driss El Himer

Driss El Himer (born April 4, 1974 in Rabat ) is a French long-distance runner of Moroccan origin.

El Himer joined the Foreign Legion in 1993 and acquired French citizenship three years later. At the European Athletics Championships in Budapest in 1998 he was seventh and at the 2001 World Athletics Championships in Edmonton eleventh in the 5000 meter run .

In the same year he won the Amsterdam Marathon in 2:07:02. In 2003 he set his personal best as fourth in the Paris Marathon with 2:06:48.

At the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 2006 he finished eighth in the 10,000 meter run , and in the same year he finished sixth at the Berlin Marathon .

So far, El Himer has won the French championship title over 5000 m three times, four times over 10,000 m and six times in cross-country . He is a member of the ASPTT Strasbourg .
