Alice Jemeli Timbilili

Alice Jemeli Timbilili (born February 1, 1983 in Moiben , Uasin Gishu District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

Life

In 1999 she became national champion over 10,000 m and won gold over 3,000 m at the World Youth Athletics Championships . At the World Athletics Championships in Seville , she did not reach the finish line over 10,000 m.

The following year she won silver in the junior women's race at the World Cross Country Championships , won the Giro Media Blenio and qualified over 10,000 m for the Olympic Games in Sydney , where she came 14th.

In the following years she focused on her graduation. She had her next big success at the 2004 World Cross Country Championships , where she finished fourth. She won the national elimination fight over 10,000 m for the Olympic Games in Athens , but did not get there beyond the 16th place.

The following year she won silver at the World Cross Country Championships and defended her title at the Giro Media Blenio, but had to do without participating in the World Championships in Helsinki injured .

After a baby break the following year, she returned to competition in 2007. At the Philadelphia Half Marathon she was second, at the World Road Running Championships in Udine ninth and third at the Delhi Half Marathon . At the end of the year she won the Corrida Internacional de São Silvestre .

After a fourth place in the RAK half marathon in 2008, she was on her debut over the 42.195 km distance fifth in the Paris Marathon . She was fourth in the New York City Half Marathon , second in the Portugal Half Marathon and third in the Honolulu Marathon . The following year she finished second in the Lisbon Half Marathon , ninth in the Boston Marathon and fifth in the Beijing Marathon .

In 2010 she won Roma - Ostia , came second in the 25 km from Berlin and the Portugal half marathon and won the Amsterdam marathon and the Corrida de São Silvestre.

Alice Jemeli Timbilili is 1.55 m tall and weighs 47 kg. She trains at Nike's camp in Kaptagat and is looked after by manager Federico Rosa. Her husband Mark Sinyei, with whom she has a son, is a farmer and helps her as a pacemaker during training sessions. Her aunt Nancy Jebet Langat became the 2008 Olympic champion in the 800 m.
