Yoshiko Yamamoto

Yoshiko Yamamoto ( Japanese 山 本 佳 子 , Yamamoto Yoshiko, after marriage Yoshiko Honda, 本田 佳 子 , Honda Yoshiko ; born June 6, 1970 in Kobe ) is a former Japanese marathon runner .

In 1989, Yamamoto finished ninth in her debut in the Osaka Women's Marathon in 2:38:10 h. The following year she won the Paris Marathon and was fourth in the Hokkaidō Marathon in 1991 . In 1992 she was fourth in Osaka and remained with 2:27:58 h as well as the old national record of Yūko Arimori as the first place Yumi Kokamo and the runner-up Akemi Matsuno . In the Boston Marathon she improved the national record to 2:26:26 h in second place, in the New York City Marathon she was third. In 1993 she was third in Osaka, fourth in the Sapporo Half Marathon and won the Amsterdam Marathon . In 1995 she was sixth in Boston and in 1997 fifth in the Chicago Marathon .

Yoshiko Yamamoto is 1.60 m tall and weighed 43 kg at competition times. She started for the company team at the Daiei supermarket chain . Her husband Daizō Honda is an athletics coach.
