English Gardner
English Gardner (born April 22, 1992 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania ) is an American athlete. She specializes in the sprint disciplines .
Career
Gardner won the 100 meter competition at the 2013 US Championships in Des Moines . With her winning time of 10.85 seconds she equalized the world best time of her compatriot Barbara Pierre .
At the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, she reached the 100 meter final. She completed this in 10.97 seconds and was fourth. She won the silver medal with the US sprint relay, as well as at the 2015 World Championships in Beijing .
With a new personal best of 10.74 s, she won the US championships and qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games . In the 100 meter final there, she finished seventh with a time of 10.94 s. With the 4 x 100 meter relay she won the gold medal after the US team had initially lost the baton in the semifinals when Allyson Felix was hindered by the Brazilian Franciela Krasucki , who was running on the branch line , when handing over to Gardner successful complaint but was allowed to start alone in an additional race and was able to qualify for the final over time.
