Annette Rogers

Annette Rogers (born October 2, 1913 in Chicago , † November 8, 2006 in Des Plaines , Illinois ) was an American athlete and Olympic champion .

Career

Rogers was both a sprinter and a high jumper . At the US Indoor Championships in 1933 and 1936, she won the gold medal in the high jump. Also at the US Indoor Championships in 1933 and 1936, she won the gold medal in the 200-meter run .

At the 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles she won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with her teammates Mary Carew , Evelyn Furtsch and Wilhelmina von Bremen in front of the teams from Canada and the United Kingdom . At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, she again won the team gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with her teammates Harriet Bland , Betty Robinson and Helen Stephens in front of the team from the United Kingdom and Canada.

Annette Rogers was the last living athletics Olympic champion in 1936. She died on November 8, 2006.
