Janet Moreau

Janet Moreau Stone (born October 26, 1927 in Pawtucket , Rhode Island ) is a former American athlete and Olympic champion .

From 1949 to 1952 she was a member of the All America Team and in 1951 the first time a member of the US national team, with which she immediately won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay race at the Pan American Games . In 1953 she was over 200 meters US indoor champion at the US indoor championships in Buffalo .

A year later she became a member of the American Olympic team and won the XV. Olympic Games 1952 in Helsinki , together with their teammates Mae Faggs , Barbara Jones and Catherine Hardy , the 4 x 100 meter relay in a new world record time of 45.9 s ahead of the team from Germany (silver) and the team from Great Britain (Bronze).
