Romy Müller

Romy Müller , b. Schneider (born July 26, 1958 in Lübbenau , GDR ), is a former German athlete who won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow (41.60 s; world record, together with Bärbel Wöckel , Ingrid Auerswald and Marlies Göhr ). At the same Olympic Games, she also competed in individual competitions and was fifth in the 100-meter run and fourth in the 200-meter run .

She was involved in six relay world records (five times in the 4-by-100-meter relay, once in the 4-by-200-meter relay). Before the 1980 Olympic Games, she won the European Cup final twice with the GDR relay (1977, 1979). At the World Cup in 1977 and 1979 she was second with the GDR relay. In 1981 she became the mother of a son and in 1985 a daughter, after which she did not make a comeback. She became a nurse and worked at the Berlin-Marzahn accident hospital . After successfully completing her degree in business administration, she has been working in a pharmaceutical company since 2008. She also became a grandmother in 2008.

Romy Müller started for SC Dynamo Berlin and trained with Inge Utecht . In her active days she was 1.68 m tall and weighed 61 kg.
