Fleur Mellor

Fleur Northey Mellor (married Wenham ; born July 13, 1936 in Sydney ) is a former Australian athlete and Olympic champion.

Mellor won the gold medal in the 4 x 100 meter relay together with Shirley Strickland de la Hunty , Norma Croker and Betty Cuthbert at the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne . The Australians set a world record of 44.9 s in the qualifying round and improved it to 44.5 s in the final.

A few days after the Olympic final, Mellor was involved in two further relay world records: over 4 times 110 yards (45.6 s) and 4 times 220 yards (1: 36.3 min).
