Rebekka Haase (born January 2, 1993 in Zschopau , Saxony ) is a German athlete who specializes in 100 and 200 meter runs and also runs relays .

Haase studies psychology at the Technical University of Chemnitz .

Athletic career

Rebekka Haase finished eighth in the 100-meter run at the 2010 Singapore Youth Olympic Games . At the Junior European Championships in 2011 in Tallinn, she reached the semi-finals.

Her breakthrough in the active class came in 2014 at twice the distance. In the 200-meter run she won the German Indoor Championships in Leipzig and the German Championships in Ulm . At the European Championships in Zurich , she reached the semi-finals over 100 meters. With the German 4 x 100 meter relay , she retired after a mistake between her and Tatjana Pinto in the preliminary run.

In 2015 Haase successfully defended her title over 200 meters at the German Indoor Championships in Karlsruhe . At the IAAF World Relays in Nassau , she led the German 4 x 200 meter relay as the starting runner to the bronze medal. At the U23 European Championships in Tallinn , she won the titles in the 100 and 200-meter run as well as with the 4-by-100-meter relay. Two weeks later she won the German Championships in Nuremberg with a new personal best of 22.95 s over 200 meters. She also came second in the 100-meter run. At the World Championships in Beijing she took fifth place with the German 4 x 100 meter relay. Furthermore, she competed over 100 meters, but was eliminated here after the preliminary round.

In 2016, Haase defended her German indoor championship title over 200 meters and became vice indoor champion over 60 meters. At the German Championships in Kassel , she came third over 100 meters and fourth over 200 meters. Haase met the standards for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in mid-May at the end of the training camp in Clermont (Florida) at the NTC Athletics Pure Elite Meet for the 100 and 200 meter distances. At the European Championships in Amsterdam in 2016 , she won the bronze medal with the German sprint relay. At the Olympic Games, she led the German relay team to fourth place as the final runner. On the other hand, she was eliminated in the 100-meter run after the heats.

At the beginning of 2017, Haase had set three personal bests in the hall: over 60, 200 and 300 meters. At the evening sports festival in Erfurt, she ran the 300 meters in 36.92 s and finished the 60-meter run after 7.14 s, with which she qualified for the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade . In Leipzig, Haase was German indoor champion over 200 meters with 22.77 s . In the 60-meter run she was runner- up behind Gina Lückenkemper with 7.16 seconds. In April, Haase won the silver medal in the 4 x 200 meter relay with Lara Matheis , Tatjana Pinto and Gina Lückenkemper in a time of 1: 30.68 minutes at the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas . The team narrowly prevailed against the team from the United States. In northern France Lille Haase was Team European champion . She started in the 200-meter run for Lisa Mayer, who was actually planned, and took third place behind Maria Belimbasaki from Greece and Anna Kiełbasińska from Poland. In addition, she was used in the 4 x 100 meter relay and won together with Lara Matheis, Alexandra Burghardt and Gina Lückenkemper. In Erfurt she was German runner-up behind Gina Lückenkemper in the 100-meter run and in the 200-meter run behind Laura Müller .

At the 2018 European Championships in Berlin she was the final runner in the 4 x 100 meter relay and won bronze with Lisa Marie Kwayie , Gina Lückenkemper and Tatjana Pinto .

In 2020, after two difficult years with foot problems, Haase found back to her old strengths in the middle of the year when she won the 100-meter run at the Sparkassen-Gala in Regensburg with a German annual best time of 11.11 seconds.

Club affiliations

Haase started for the LV 90 Erzgebirge until 2018 . She has been with the Wetzlar sprint team since 2019 , but still lives in her home country of Saxony and trains with Jörg Möckel at the Olympic base in Chemnitz.
