Lisa-Marie Kwayie (born October 27, 1996 in Sunyani , Ghana ) is a German athlete who specializes in sprints and also runs relays .

Life

Lisa-Marie Kwayie came to Berlin-Neukölln with her Ghanaian father when she was three years old . She has a German stepmother. Kwayie is studying social work .

Athletic career

Kwayie had noticed her teacher at elementary school competitions, he was able to guide her into an athletics club. At the age of twelve, Kwayie began to train seriously, and it quickly became apparent that sprinting was her forte. She also tried the long jump , but couldn't translate her speed into good jumps.

In 2011, Kwayie retired in her first national competition, the German U18 championships in Jena , in the 100-meter run in the preliminary round.

In 2012 she finished 9th over 200 meters at the German U18 Championships in Mönchengladbach .

In 2013, Kwayie came 4th in the 100-meter run at the German U18 championships in Rostock .

In 2014 she was runner-up over 200 meters at the German U20 indoor championships in Sindelfingen and at the German U20 championships in Wattenscheid , where Kwayie also took 3rd place over 100 meters. Internationally she came in 3rd place at the U20 World Championships in Eugene (Oregon) in the 4 x 100 meter relay with Lisa Mayer , Gina Lückenkemper and Chantal Butzek , but was eliminated in the 100 meter run in the Preliminary round out.

In 2015, Kwayie was again German U20 indoor runner-up in the 200-meter distance in Neubrandenburg and came 12th at the German indoor championships in Karlsruhe over 60 meters.

In 2016 she reached 9th place at the German Indoor Championships in Leipzig over 60 meters.

In 2017, Kwayie came 11th at the German indoor championships in Leipzig over 60 meters and took bronze at the German U23 championships in Leverkusen on the 200-meter distance . Internationally, she took 9th place in the U23 European Championships in the 100 meter run in Bydgoszcz .

In April 2018, Kwayie fulfilled the standard of 11.35 s for the European Championships in Berlin with 11.29 s over 100 meters in the competition to conclude the sprint training camp in Clermont (Florida) . At the Athletics World Cup in London , she reached eighth place in the 100-meter sprint. In Nuremberg , Kwayie was German runner- up with 11.33 s and thus underlined her form for the European Championships, where she won bronze in the relay.

In 2019 she took part in the Universiade in Naples for the first time , where she won the bronze medal over 100 meters in 11.39 seconds behind the Indian Dutee Chand and Ajla Del Ponte from Switzerland. Also over 200 meters she won the bronze medal behind the Belarusian Kryszina Zimanouskaja and Wessolly with a new best performance of 23.11 seconds

Kwayie has been part of the perspective squad of the German Athletics Association (DLV) since the competitive sports reform 2017/18 .

Club affiliations

Kwayie has been working for the Neukölln Sportfreunde since 2014 and was previously at LAC Berlin .
