The Caspar C 27 Möve was a German floatplane from the 1920s. Only two copies were built.

development

The C 27 was designed under the direction of Ernst von Loessl at the Caspar Works in Lübeck-Travemünde as a training aircraft (lake) . It was presented to the public for the first time in April 1927 at the 8th sample fair in Milan, but it did not meet with great response. Two aircraft were built, which were taken over by the branch of the German Aviation School in Warnemünde and integrated into its school operations. One of them with the serial number 7004 was registered as D – 1023 in March 1928 , the other with the serial number 7001 was given the registration number D – 1276 . The two C 27s received extremely bad reviews. Viewed as a constructive step backwards they possessed also very bad flight characteristics suffered technical faults under and constructive way. In one of the aircraft broke into a hard splashdown the float floors , so that it had withdrawn from circulation. The other was then handed over to the North Sea base on List , where it was still used for towing and rolling maneuvers in rough seas . In March 1932 it was deleted from the aviation register.

construction

The C 27 is a two-post, braced double - decker in a composite construction . The fuselage consists of a welded tubular steel frame with a rectangular cross section and a fabric covering. It is clad with aluminum from the bow to the end of the rear pilot's cabin. A fire bulkhead made of welded steel tubing is inserted between the engine and the front cabin . There are steel tubes that can be used as a walkway on both sides of the bonnet. The aircraft has a double rudder

The structure consists of non-staggered upper and lower wings of the same span with a slight V-position. These are made in two parts and are attached either to the center piece of the canopy at the top or to the sides of the fuselage at the bottom. They consist of a wooden frame with two spars, between which the underside is planked with plywood and the remaining surfaces are covered with fabric. The leading edge of the wing is made of plywood. The upper and lower wings are connected to one another with double I-stems and crossed tension wires in two levels. Both are equipped with ailerons.

The tail unit , designed as a plywood-covered wooden frame, consists of the horizontal and vertical fin, both of which are adjustable. The latter is also aerodynamically balanced.

The C 27 is equipped with two single-stage wooden floats set parallel to one another , the floors of which are flat at the front and keeled at the rear . They are connected to the fuselage by a total of four N-struts, from which they can easily be detached.
