career path

After completing her general university entrance qualification at the St. Michael Catholic High School in Paderborn, Chantal Butzek began her teaching degree at the University of Paderborn in the 2016/17 winter semester.

Athletic career

In 2011, sports teachers from the Catholic high school St. Michael in Paderborn recognized Chantal's talent at the National Youth Games and she completed a trial training at LC Paderborn. Chantal learned the basics from Karsten Lenz, a trainer at LC Paderborn. Then Chantal went to the performance group, as there were better training conditions there and there was a more powerful training group.

In 2012 she was Westphalian champion both indoors over 60 meters and 60 meters hurdles and outdoors over 100 meters .
She achieved the four best 60 meter times of her career in the winter of 2015/16. It ran between 7.27 and 7.30 s. In 2015 Chantal Butzek had a strong indoor season with 7.31 s, but then had to take it easy because of a fall.

Two years after entering the competitive sport of athletics, she managed to achieve two sprint titles over 60 and 60 meter hurdles at the German Youth Indoor Championships in the Sindelfingen Glaspalast. As a B-youth she won the gold medals over the hurdles as well as the flat short sprint course against the competition who was up to two years older.

On February 21, 2016 she became German indoor champion at the German Youth Indoor Championships in Dortmund with a personal best of 7.27 seconds over 60 meters .
