Levon Aghasjan ( Armenian Լևոն Աղասյան ; English Levon Aghasyan ; born January 19, 1995 in Kapan ) is an Armenian triple jumper .

Athletic career

Lewon Aghasjan gained his first international experience in 2011 at the World Youth Championships near Lille , where he took fifth place with a width of 15.24 m. Then he retired at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Trabzon in the long jump with 6.57 m in the qualification and was fourth in the triple jump with 15.49 m. The following year he took part in the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , but also retired there without a valid attempt in qualification. In 2013 he finally won the Junior European Championships in Rieti with 16.01 m and in 2014 he reached fifth place at the Junior World Championships in Eugene with a width of 16.28 m. The following year he qualified for participation in the European Indoor Championships in Prague , where he did not reach the final with 15.94 m. At the beginning of July he finished eighth at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn with 15.88 m.

In 2016 he was eliminated from the qualification at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 16.21 m, but then took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and did not reach the final with 15.54 m . The following year he was eliminated from the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade without a valid attempt in qualification and also at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , 15.62 m were not enough for a final. He then took part in the Francophonie Games in Abidjan , where he finished eighth with a width of 15.52 m. In 2018 he took part in the European Championships in Berlin again, but was eliminated there with 16.34 m in qualification. In 2019 he reached tenth place at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with 16.38 m, as well as at the Summer Universiade in Naples with 15.73 m. In addition, he took part in the World Championships in Doha for the first time and was eliminated there with 16.24 m in qualification .

In 2016 and 2019, Aghasjan became the Armenian triple jump champion. He was also the outdoor Balkan champion in 2016 and indoor in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
