Ayomide Temilade Oluwatoyosi Folorunso (born October 17, 1996 in Abeokuta ) is an Italian athlete of Nigerian origin who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles.

Athletic career

Ayomide Folorunso gained her first international experience at the Junior World Championships 2014 in Eugene , where she finished seventh with 58.34 s. The following year she won the bronze medal in the hurdles in 58.44 s and the silver medal in the Italian 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 37.45 min at the 2015 European Athletics Junior Championships in Eskilstuna, Sweden . This gave her a place in the relay for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated with 3: 27.07 min in the lead . In 2016 she took part in the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she was fourth in 55.50 s. She qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she reached the semi-finals and was eliminated there with 56.37 s. In addition, she reached sixth place in the final with the Italian relay in 3: 27.05 minutes .

In 2017 she took part with the relay at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade and narrowly missed a medal with the Italian relay in 3: 32.87 minutes. At the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , Poland , she won the gold medal in the individual competition in 55.82 seconds and finished fifth with the Italian relay in 3: 33.31 minutes. Then she reached at the World Championships in London , the semi-finals , where they retired s with 56.47. Even with the season, she could not qualify for the final with 3: 27.81 min . Two weeks later, she won the Summer Universiade in Taipei in 55.63 seconds and could not finish the final run with the 4 x 100 meter relay. She then took part again in the European Championships in Berlin and was eliminated there with 55.69 s in the semifinals. In addition, she was fifth with the season in 3: 28.62 min.

In 2019 she won the bronze medal behind Poland and the United Kingdom at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with the relay in 3: 31.90 min. In addition, she reached the semi-finals in the individual competition over 400 meters, in which she was eliminated with 57.96 s. Then she came in third place with the Italian relay at the World Relays in Yokohama in 3: 27.74 minutes. In July she defended her title at the Student World Games in Naples , where she improved her best to 54.75 s.

In 2016 and 2019 Folorunso became Italian champion in the 400-meter hurdles and in 2016 and 2017 also indoor champion over 400 meters. She is a student at the University of Parma .
