Thobias Nilsson Montler (born February 15, 1996 ) is a Swedish athlete who specializes in the long jump . In 2019 he became Vice European Indoor Champion in Glasgow.

Athletic career

Thobias Nilsson Montler has been taking part in long jump competitions since 2011, although he also competed in sprint and hurdles back then. In 2013 he then competed in the long jump at the U18 World Championships in Donetsk. He survived the qualification and finished eighth in the final with 7.32 m. The following year, he entered the senior age group at the U20 World Championships in Eugene. In the final he climbed to 7.65 m and took eighth place again.

In 2015 the U20 European Championships took place in his Swedish homeland, in Eskilstuna. In the long jump he was fourth with a distance of 7.68 m and was then able to win the European championship with the Swedish 4 x 100 meter relay. In 2017 Montler won bronze at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland. He previously jumped the 8-meter mark for the first time in a competition in the United States in April. At the European Championships in Berlin, he took fourth place with a jump of 8.10 m and then became the Swedish champion in the long jump for the first time.

In 2019 he was runner-up at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a distance of 8.17 . In the summer he set a new best with 8.22 m in the open air, with which he won the Diamond League meeting in Stockholm. He could not confirm this distance at the World Championships in oha and was ninth in the final with 7.96 m.
