Tiffany Donnama James (born January 31, 1997 ) is a Jamaican sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Tiffany James gained her first international experience at the CARIFTA Games 2011 in Hamilton , where she won the gold medal in the 800-meter run in the U17 age group in 2: 18.11 minutes and also with the Jamaican 4 x 400 meters -Season won in 3: 44.64 min. The following year she won the CARIFTA Games in Nassau in 55.13 seconds over 400 meters and in 3: 44.13 minutes with the relay. She then took part in the Youth World Championships in Donetsk , where she won the bronze medal in the individual competition over 400 meters in 53.56 s and was disqualified in the sprint relay (1000 meters) in the preliminary run. In 2014 she won the silver medal over 400 meters at the CARIFTA Games in Fort-de-France in 53.79 seconds and won the relay in a new record time of 3: 37.65 minutes. Then she reached the semi-finals over 400 meters at the Junior World Championships in Eugene , in which she was eliminated with 54.06 s, and with the 4 x 400 meter relay she was disqualified in the final. She also took part in the second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing , where she won the silver medal over 400 meters in 54.54 s. In 2015 she won the bronze medal in the U20 class at the CARIFTA Games in Basseterre in 53.71 seconds and won the relay in 3: 37.96 minutes. In the following year she also won the bronze medal in the individual competition at the CARIFTA Games in St. George’s in 52.70 seconds and won the relay in 3: 34.84 minutes. Then she won the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz in 51.32 s and won the silver medal in 3: 31.01 min with the relay.

In 2018 she took part in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and helped the team to reach the finals there. She then won the Central America and Caribbean Games (CAC) in Barranquilla in 52.35 s over 400 meters and won the silver medal behind the team from Cuba in 3: 30.67 min. Also at the following NACAC championships in Toronto she won the silver medal with the relay in 3: 27.25 minutes, this time behind the US team. At the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , she finished fifth in 3: 28.30 minutes and then retired from the U23 NACAC championships in Santiago de Querétaro with 55.22 seconds over 400 meters in the first round. Then she won at the Pan American Games in Lima in 3: 27.61 min the bronze medal behind the United States and Canada and also in the World Championships in Doha she secured with 3: 22.37 minutes in the final the bronze medal behind the United States and Poland. In addition, she won the silver medal behind the USA in 3: 11.78 minutes in the mixed relay.
