Ali Khamis Abbas Ali Khamis ( Arabic علي خميس عباس علي خميس, DMG ʿAlī Ḫamīs ʿAbbās ʿAlī Ḫamīs ; * June 30, 1995 ) is a Bahraini sprinter who competes in both the 400-meter run and the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Ali Khamis Khamis gained his first international experience at the World Youth Championships in 2011 near Lille , where he was eliminated in the first round over 400 meter hurdles, as well as with the Bahraini sprint relay (1000 meters). The following year he was eliminated from the Junior Asian Championships in Colombo and the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , he was also eliminated in the preliminary stages. At the Arab Championships in Doha he won the bronze medal in 46.25 s and the silver medal at the Asian Championships in Pune in 45.65 s behind the Saudi Arabian Yousef Ahmed Masrahi over 400 meters. In 2014 he won the Arab Junior Championships in Cairo over 400 meters flat and over the hurdles. In the hurdles he again took part in the Junior World Championships in Eugene and won the silver medal there in 49.55 s behind the Jamaican Jaheel Hyde . At the end of October he first took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea , and won there in a time of 49.71 s.

In 2015 he won the hurdles at the Arab Championships in Manama and was sixth at the Military World Games in Mungyeon and was also disqualified from the Bahraini 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2016 he qualified in the 400-meter run for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he finished sixth with a new national record of 44.36 seconds in the final . The following year he won over 400 at the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku Meters and was fourth with the season. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta , where he won the bronze medal in 45.70 seconds behind the Katari Abdalelah Haroun and the Indian Muhammed Anas . He also won the mixed relay and was fifth in the men's relay in 3: 03.97 min. The gold medal with the mixed relay was revoked in 2019 because of a doping offense of his colleague Kemi Adekoya .
