Muhammed Anas Yahiya (partly also Mohammad Anas Yahiya ; born September 17, 1994 in Nilamel , Kerala ) is an Indian athlete who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Muhammed Anas gained his first international experience in 2015 at the military world games in Mungyeong , South Korea , where he reached the semi-finals in the individual 400 meter competition and took fourth place in the final with the Indian 4 x 400 meter relay. In 2016 he qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 45.95 s in the preliminary round and was disqualified with the 4 x 400 meter relay in the run-up due to a rule violation. In 2017 Anas won the gold medal in the individual competition and with the relay at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar and thus received a bye for the World Championships in London , where he was eliminated with 45.98 s in the first round . Even with the season he could not qualify for the final .

In 2018 Anas took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished fourth over 400 meters with a new Indian national record of 45.31 s and was able to race with the Indian 4 x 400 meter relay in Don't finish the final. At the end of August he first took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and won the silver medal there in 45.69 s behind the Katari Abdalelah Haroun . He also won the silver medal with the Indian relay and the mixed relay. In 2019 the Bahraini mixed relay team was disqualified for a doping offense and the gold medal was awarded to India. The following year he finished seventh at the Asian Championships in Doha with 46.10 s and won the silver medal with the mixed relay, while he was disqualified with the men's relay. With the men's relay, he also took part in the World Championships there in October, where he was eliminated with 3: 03.09 min in advance. With the mixed relay, however, he made it to the final, where he finished seventh in 3: 15.77 minutes. He then finished fourth over 400 meters in 46.86 s at the World Military Games in Wuhan and also with the relay he came fourth in 3: 06.81 min.

In 2015 Anas became Indian champion with the 4 x 400 meter relay. He graduated from Sreekrishna College with a degree in computer science . His younger brother Muhammed Anees Yahiya is active as a long jumper.
