Sarah Atcho (born June 1, 1995 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss sprinter who specializes in the 200-meter run .

Athletic career

Sarah Atcho gained her first international experience in 2012 at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , where she was eliminated in the first round of the 200-meter run with 24.73 seconds and also competed in the Swiss 4 x 100 meter relay with 45, 61 s failed to qualify for the final. In the following year, she finished eighth in the European Junior Championships in Rieti in 24.36 s and was used in the relay in the run-up to the finals, in which the relay took fifth place. Then she was also eighth over 200 meters at the Francophonie games in Nice in 25.17 s and won the silver medal behind Wallonia in 45.01 s with the relay. In 2014 she reached the semi-finals at the Junior World Championships in Eugene , where she was eliminated with 23.82 s and came fifth with the relay in 45.02 s. In 2015 she was sixth over 200 meters at the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 23.85 s and won the bronze medal in the relay in 44.24 s. So she got a starting place in the national team and retired at the World Championships in Beijing with 43.38 s in the lead . In 2016 she took part in the relay at the European Championships in Amsterdam , where she narrowly missed a medal in fourth place in 43.00 s. In addition, the Swiss team qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where they eliminated with 43.12 seconds in the preliminary round. The following year, she took part in the 60-meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 7.32 seconds. In addition, she retired over 400 meters with 54.21 s in the first lap. At the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz , she won the silver medal over 200 meters behind Britain's Finette Agyapong in 22.90 seconds and again the bronze medal in the Swiss sprint relay in 44.07 seconds. This was followed by winning the silver medal in 24.14 s at the Francophonie Games in Abidjan behind the Congolese Natacha Ngoye Akamabi . In addition, she qualified again for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated in the semifinals over 200 meters with 23.12 s , while she finished fifth with the Swiss relay in 42.51 s in the final .

In 2018 she took part in the European Championships in Berlin over 200 meters , where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 22.88 seconds, while she finished fourth in the relay in 42.30 seconds. The following year she reached the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow again up to the semi-finals over 60 meters and was eliminated there with 7.41 s. In July she took part in the Summer Universiade in Naples for the first time, where she was eliminated in the semifinals with 23.53 s and won with the Swiss team in 43.72 s. At the World Championships in Doha , she retired over 200 meters with 23.29 s in the lead and took fourth place with the relay in the final with a new national record of 42.18 s.

In 2019 Atcho became Swiss indoor champion in the 200-meter run.
