Celina Leffler (* 9. April 1996 in Lübeck , Schleswig-Holstein ) is a former German track and field athlete , referring to the heptathlon had specialized and also in hurdle races and the long jump took.

Professional career

In 2013 Leffler graduated from high school and did an internship at the Sportbund Rheinland in Koblenz. She has been a medical student since the 2015 summer semester. 2020 will be her practical year for Leffler and after successful exams and license to practice medicine , she could become a doctor by the middle of the year.

Athletic career

In elementary school, Leffler came to sport through the National Youth Games . She has always liked athletics and was on the sports field.

In 2012, Leffler made a lot of technical progress in many disciplines and made up her stamina after a long injury in 2011.

2013 was an outstanding year. Leffler passed the Abitur, set numerous records and collected gold five times, a. a. she became U18 world champion in heptathlon.

In 2014, Leffler managed the age-related transition to higher hurdles and heavy balls better than she expected. Over 100 meter hurdles and in the long jump, she was U20 runner-up .

In 2015 Leffler won the German U20 Championship over 100 meter hurdles, and in this discipline she also competed at the U20 European Championships and reached the semi-finals.

In 2016 Leffler became German champion in her first pentathlon in the active class with a personal best of 4,347 points at the German Indoor Championships, and reached eleventh place at the Indoor World Championships in Portland (Oregon) , her first international championship among the active.

In 2017 Leffler increased her best heptathlon performance twice, first in mid-June at the all- around meeting in Bernhausen by 115 to 5961 points and in mid-July at the U23 European Championships in Bydgoszcz by a further 109 to 6070 points with which she won bronze. In mid-August she became German U23 champion in the all-around competition in Kienbaum .

In 2018 she was again German U23 champion in the all- around with 6050 points and at the end of the year she took third place in the U23 best list.

In 2019, Leffler was unable to qualify for the World Championships due to injury and decided in the middle of the year to retire from competitive sports due to her repeated and persistent injuries, but would like to work as a trainer in the youth field.

Club affiliations

Leffler started for the SSC Koblenz-Karthause and was trained by Holger Klein .
