DieAussenseiter (spelling without spaces and without Eszett ) are a German entertainment and comedian duo that operates one of the most successful German-language video channels on YouTube . For about three years it was the most subscribed German YouTube channel. The collaboration has been paused since 2016.

Members

The outsiders consist of Alexander and Dimitri Koslowski. They also call themselves Koslowski Brothers, but they are cousins. Both were born in Kazakhstan (then the Soviet Union ) and later moved to Russia before coming to Germany at the age of 10 and 17, respectively.

Alexander

Alexander "Sascha" Koslowski was born on December 11, 1986 in Schortandy, Audany Schortandy, Zelinograd Oblast , Kazakh SSR . He has Russian, German and Polish roots. He is known as Sascha, the Russian nickname of his first name. When he was ten years old, the family emigrated to Germany. His cousin Dimitri stayed in Russia. Sascha Koslowski first attended a secondary school because of his poor knowledge of German . He later completed his training as a retail salesman. He is married to YouTuber Paola Maria.

Dimitri

Dimitri "Dima" Koslowski was born on April 10, 1986 in Schortandy. He grew up there until he was 17 years old. Then he moved to Germany to live with his cousin Sascha in a small apartment near Stuttgart. He learned German within three years and graduated from secondary school. He later completed his training as a media designer.

Career

Even in the early days of the YouTube video platform, they set up personal channels. In 2008 they started two channels together, on September 2nd kbshowTV (Koslowski Brothers Show) and on December 30th DieAussenseiter . On these, they published videos they had shot and cut themselves, in which they dealt with various topics in a humorous way, parodied music and collected video snippets from the Internet and put them online in vlog style. The “DieAussenseiter” channel in particular quickly developed into one of the most popular German-speaking channels and from December 29, 2009 to November 2012 had the most subscribers among the YouTube channels listed in Germany, until it was replaced by Y-Titty in 2012 .

Over 960,000 YouTube users had subscribed to the channel in early 2013 and their videos, which lasted four to five minutes on average, were viewed over 375 million times. Most videos get one to four million views, and a video from the early days called I'm In Love has been viewed over 11 million times. Since they used excerpts from other videos very generously, especially in the early days, many videos had to be deleted for copyright reasons and are no longer available via the channel. Currently (as of July 2016) there are over 430 videos on the “DieAussenseiter” channel.

With Lost Dreams they also put an entire film online with a duration of 51:21 minutes in 2009/2010. In 2011 the even longer film Therapy followed , which was banned from YouTube shortly after it was released and has only been officially seen again since mid-2012.

The outsiders also keep posting their own music videos online. In December 2012, they published their own version of the children's song Aram Sam Sam with video, which had been made popular three years earlier by Donikkl . The song was also officially offered in the download shops and hit the German single charts .

On February 1, 2013, it became the fourth German channel to pass the million mark in subscriber numbers. In 2014 they won the Videodays play award in the Legend category and on May 24, 2014 the honorary award of the Germany Web Video Prize .

DieAussenseiter belongs to the YouTube network TubeOne along with many of her other channels .

Alexander and Dimitri are now making videos separately. On June 8, 2018, Dimitri Koslowski replied to moderator Benni's question: "How did the separation come about?" (from World Wide Living Room on Youtube) as follows: "That was also three years ago, I think. A bit over it. It was like when we moved between Hamburg and Cologne, a little before that, our interests changed a little developed in different directions. Sascha actually wants to make short films like that, more with a more serious focus. Representing a bit of philosophical thoughts in these videos. And I still have entertainment. Sometimes I don't even know how to entertain, and then I do kind of trash, sometimes I did things that I no longer stand for, they are also no longer online, but still this vein is still there for me, I want to give people a positive feeling somehow, in some way and Entertaining wisely and making you think more with comedy than that. Every now and then I also make a video where I address a serious topic, but I also try to bring in a little jokes ingen. Whether it works or not is a matter of taste, but I tend to have this streak and Sascha the other. Then we decided okay let's take a break first and see that everyone does their projects. And so far the break is definitely there. "

Alexander is now concentrating on his own art projects. These include films such as FIND, which was released at the end of 2018. He himself describes his film with the following words: "This film deals with us. Not the other way around. Who are you when you are alone? Does nature need us? These are questions that FIND deals with. This film shows us insights into the feelings of being. " Together with personalities such as Regina Hixt, Paola Maria and Arwed Maul, the foundation for the shooting in summer 2018 is formed. With the help of Julian Trunke from MostMagic, the film was supplemented with extraordinary visual effects, which reflect the feelings of the people in the film . Rahim Erbil supported Alexander in audio post-production. The film was finalized together with MostMagic and then celebrated its premiere in Cologne. The film was released on YouTube on December 16, 2018.

roll

Well-known roles are the brothers David and Herbert. David is played by Dimitri and Herbert von Alexander. While David is rather dry and responsible with others, Herbert is mentally disturbed and sometimes seems to annoy his brother David deliberately. There is also the hater, embodied by Dimitri, who only shows himself with a Guy Fawkes mask and a selection voice from the AT&T website. The voice, the figure and the dialogues serve as a running gag .

In addition to their main channel DieAussenseiter, both operate various other YouTube channels on which they publish and publish videos individually, jointly, in German or in Russian:
