The Straubinger Tagblatt / Landshuter Zeitung media group (formerly the Straubinger Tagblatt / Landshuter Zeitung newspaper group) is the second largest publishing group in Lower Bavaria alongside the Passau publishing group . Its headquarters are in Straubing , with Jos. Thomann'sche Buchdruckerei Verlag of the Landshuter Zeitung and the Abendzeitung München Verlags GmbH two further publishing houses in Landshut and Munich . history

Straubinger Tagblatt - At Ludwigsplatz in Straubing

On October 1, 1860, the first edition of the Straubinger Tagblatt appeared , edited by Cl. Attenkofer. At the turn of the century, the Vilstaler Zeitung and, from October 21, 1930, the Wörther home newspaper Donau-Post , which was founded by Josef Schützinger , were able to print the first regional editions. After Attenkofer's death, Georg Huber sen. took over the management of the newspaper and handed over the business to his son Georg of the same name in 1935. After the Second World War, the publisher lost its license and was only able to publish a newspaper again in the summer of 1949. In 1951 Georg Huber jun. the publishing house of the Landshuter Zeitung. Since then, the publishing group has operated under its current name. Hermann Balle took over the newspaper group in 1983.

In 1995 his son Martin Balle took over the management of the publishing house, which is still in charge today.

On June 17, 2014 it was announced that the publishing group would take over the insolvent Münchner Abendzeitung on July 1, 2014 .

Straubinger Tagblatt / Landshuter Zeitung , like most German daily newspapers, has lost circulation in recent years . The number of copies sold has fallen by an average of 1.2% per year over the past 10 years. Last year it decreased by 1.3%. It is currently 112,549 copies. The share of subscriptions in the circulation sold is 94.5 percent.
