biography

Life and musical beginnings

Carlprit was born in Zimbabwe . His mother is also from Zimbabwe and his father is German. Carlprit is the younger brother of Metaphysics , who, together with Marlon B., is the rapper of the Sons of Mannheim . Besides him, he has five other siblings. He grew up in Harare and attended North Park Primary School and then Ellis Robins Boy High School. At the age of 14 he moved to Germany with Metaphysics, where he has lived ever since. In addition to his rap career, he also works as an actor.

Since he has lived in Germany, he has been writing his own songs and first drew attention to himself through his participation in his brother Metaphysics' song The Universe . This then appeared on August 25, 2003 on Metaphysics first studio album, Digitale Garten . The album was released on the Absolute M record label .

In 2006 he founded his own label with his friend Dahoud Faron, which was later dissolved due to different interests. He tried to get attention through YouTube uploads and finally released his debut single What Up Girl on the record label Gandanga Music . The track was produced by the German DJ and producer KMX Musik, who later contributed to many other songs such as Thats The Way I Am or All My Life . However, the single was a rather minor success.

In 2009 Carlprit recorded a mixtape that was produced by the Wuppertal rapper and producer DEDE. It was to appear under the title of his then label Hustlers Academy . However, the release was delayed by another project with Cascada and finally canceled for the time being.

2009–2011: Breakthrough with Manian and Yanou

In 2009, still under the management of Metaphysics, Carlprit was signed to Zooland Records by producers Manian and Yanou . The Cologne-based producers, known for projects such as Cascada or RIO , were looking for a talented rapper for a new project that they were currently working on. They offered him to participate in the song Evacuate the Dancefloor . Just three weeks later, Carlprit was in the studio and a short time later shot the music video for the song together with Natalie Horler in Los Angeles. However, he was not mentioned on the CD as a featuring artist. The single was released in June 2009 and soared to the top of numerous charts. It became a number one hit in England and the Netherlands and went platinum in the US. The track has been sold over three million times worldwide.

In January 2010, Carlprit released his mixtape Hustlers Academy as a free download on the Gandanga Music label . It became an internet success and rose to number one on the official charts of the Reverbnation website in a matter of hours . Carlprit has been involved in several projects since 2009. He first published See You At The Top , along with brothers Bkay and Kazz. The video for the song shows the participants of the German TV show Model WG , as well as the Miss Germany finalist Marina Lee and FHM model Julia Grulisch.

Shortly thereafter, he recorded two more tracks with Cascada, Unspoken and Independence Day , which are included on the fourth Cascada album Original Me . In addition, Carlprit got the opportunity to work with the Michael Mind Project on a remix of Alexandra Stan's number one hit, Mr. Saxobeat . He can also be heard on their single 1,000,000 .

On September 9, 2011, he released his solo single 1234 . The singer Caroline von Brünken took part as the singer of the chorus and as a songwriter. The track was released on the record label Zooland Records . The title song of the single was mixed by the German dance project RIO , whose members are the label's founders. The song remained commercially less successful despite success in the clubs.

Since 2011: Cooperation with Modana

Since 2011 he has been working regularly with the German DJ Modana , who is also known as Steve Morane or, more commonly, as Stephan Endemann. Their first joint single was called Mr Dobalina and was released on April 21, 2011. The duo's second track was Shake That Boo Boo and was released on August 5, 2011.

The next single was released in 2012. It was Party Crash and was first released on June 11, 2012. In Germany, however, it was only released in October 2012 in parallel with Club Go Mad . Club Go Mad is the most successful single as a duo to date. It was able to advance to the top 40 of the German iTunes charts and to number 43 of the Austrian singles charts. In the winter of December 7, 2012, Hot Spot released another single of the two.

The sixth duo single was released on April 5, 2013. It bears the title Your Biggest Fan and was particularly popular with the spectacular music video in which Alexander “Sascha” Koslowski and Dimitri “Dima” Koslowski from the YouTube comedy duo DieAussenseiter participate PhD or fame.

Since 2012: commercial success and contract with Sony

In summer 2012 he worked with Darius & Finlay and Nicco on a new version of the successful track Do it All Night . Early on after its release, the single entered the iTunes Top 30 and after a week also entered the Top 40 of all German-speaking countries, as well as in many other European countries.

In late autumn 2012, Carlprit signed a contract with Sony Music, or with its sub-label Nitron Music, that specializes in dance music and thus separates from Manian and Yanous record label Zooland Records . The change ended the collaboration with the two DJs and Carlprit built a new project together with the singer and songwriter Caroline von Brünken , as well as with the German DJ and producer duo Michael Mind Project . After he announced this, he immediately announced a new single, Fiesta .

In the winter of 2012, the promo single Fiesta was released, which was mixed, composed and produced by the Michael Mind Project . Here Caroline von Brünken sang the refrain and assisted with the songwriting. The song went straight to the Swiss, French and Belgian charts. There he reached 45th place in Switzerland for one week, 39th in France for 21 weeks and 26th in Belgium for 5 weeks. On May 10, 2013 Fiesta was released as an official single with various remixes. Initially it only reached number 93 in the German single charts and later rose to number 53. The song also stayed in the German dance charts for 10 weeks.

In spring 2013 a new song, Here We Go (Allez Allez) was released as a promo single , just like for Fiesta . So far, however, it has only been published in France. This is a cover of the song Allez Allez by Petty Joy and Uno Jahma from 2012. This track was also mixed, composed and produced by the Michael Mind Project . In the Belgian tip charts, the promo single even reached number 22. In May 2013, Carlprit announced that filming for Here We Go (Allez Allez) was in full swing and also published the first pictures of the shoot. The official single was released in August 2013 with new remixes, including from E-Patment via Sony Music.

Also in 2013 he formed the music group DNGRS Crew (short for Dangerous Crew ) together with Tony T. and the sons of Mannheims rappers Metaphysics and Marlon B. They recorded their first single Dangerous together with DJ Mase. It was released on May 24, 2013 via Kontor Records .

The next song of the project "Carlprit-Caroline von Brünken-Michael Mind Project" was released on November 8, 2013. It was called Party Around the World . An early publication as a promo single did not take place. Caroline von Brünken was given her pseudonym CvB for the first time as an official guest musician. As with the last two songs, the Michael Mind Project was still listed as a remixer. Another single will be released on January 31, 2014. It is called Remember to Forget and contains vocals by the singer Jaicko Lawrence . In addition, the single contains the bonus track the song Savages , originally published under the name Barbarous in spring 2013 by the Michael Mind Project and Carlprit. Now the refrain has been sung again, the text rewritten and, among other things, the title published. One week after the release, Remember to Forget reached a position in the German single charts and was able to surpass the success of Fiesta and Here We Go (Allez Allez) .

In October 2014, Carlprit announced another song with the American singer Jaicko Lawrence. The song is called Only Get Better and was released on November 7, 2014 via Sony Music. The track is presented on the compilation "Club Sounds Vol. 71". Several promo versions of the song appeared on the Internet at the end of October 2014. The song is the first since 2012 that was not produced by the Michael Mind Project. Instead, the Canadian musician Jenson Vaughan acted as songwriter, composer and producer , who is among other things the singer of the songs Sky Is the Limit and Bella Vita by DJ Antoine and the songwriter of Madonna's Girl Gone Wild and Steve Aoki and Kid Inks Delirious .
