Mr. Saxobeat is a song by the Romanian singer Alexandra Stan . The song comes from their album Saxobeats . In her native Romania, the song became a number one hit and was number one for eight consecutive weeks. In Germany it was the first production from Romania, which could reach the top position in the official German single charts . Andrei Nemirschi and Marcel Prodan wrote the song, it was produced by Prodan alone.

The title was not only very successful in Romania, it also achieved high chart positions in other countries. In Spain the song reached number 3 and in France the song debuted at number 6. In the Czech Republic the song reached number 9, in Slovakia number 4, in Greece number 6, in Belgium number 2 (Wallonia) and 5 (Flanders) in Germany , Austria , Switzerland , Denmark and Italy number 1 and in the Scandinavian countries Sweden 3 and Finland and Norway number 2. In the British single charts , the title rose to number 3.

Outside Europe , Mr. Saxobeat reached number 25 in Canada . In Australia the song climbed to number 19 and in New Zealand to number 4. In the US , the song was also released in spring 2011, but initially did not make it with only 20,000 units sold the official Billboard Hot 100 . But on July 30, 2011, the title made it into the Hot 100 and debuted at number 92, making Alexandra Stan the first Romanian singer in history to make it into the US charts.

In many other countries, such as Poland, Hungary, Russia, Scotland and Luxembourg, the song reached the top 10 of the charts.

Music video

The music video for Mr. Saxobeat was shot in October 2010 at MediaPro Studios. An official making-of of the video shoot premiered on the Romanian music channel 1Music Channel in early November 2010. The actual music video for the song was released on November 15, 2010. The music video shows Stan being arrested and having to testify to the police . Then she goes to prison, but later escapes.

The video begins with scenes showing how the police lead Stan with handcuffs into the police station. Since the questioning was unsuccessful, the police lead Stan and a friend to a prison cell. She seduces a policeman and gets his weapon. Stan and her friends escape with the gun, and the policeman is locked in the cell. During their escape, they arrive in a dressing room where they disguise themselves as policewomen. They then leave the room and threaten other police officers and the police chief with their weapons. In the end, all three leave the police station unscathed, and the music video ends.

Live performances

Stan sang the song at the New Year's Eve L! Ve Revolution in Romania on December 31, 2010, along with their previous hit Lollipop . Their performance was praised by MTV , they called Stan the best performer of the event. She also sang the song during her promotional tour in Canada , France and Spain .

Mr. Saxobeat was released worldwide in 2011. However, it was released in different countries, on different dates, on different record labels. In Germany, a re-release in the form of a double single with the title Get Back was released in December 2011 . In addition, a remix EP was released worldwide, from which the remix of the Michael Mind Project stands out, as it contains new vocals that were sung by rapper Carlprit . This mix inspired Stan to write his own song (One Million) with Carlprit.
