Productores de Música de España
The Productores de Música de España ( Spanish "Spanish music producers"), Promusicae for short (also PROMUSICAE ), is a collecting society with the task of representing the Spanish music industry globally. The trade association is a member of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
history
The organization was founded in 1958 with the name Grupo Español de la Federación Internacional de la Industria Fonográfica (German: Spanish Group of the IFPI) as a representative of the IFPI. In 1978, at the end of the Franco regime, the association was officially recognized under the name Asociación Fonográfica Española (Spanish Association of the Phonographic Industry), AFE for short. As music videos became more popular in Spain from 1982 , the organization changed its name to Asociación Fonográfica y Videográfica de España (Association of the Spanish Phono- and Video Industry), or AFYVE for short. The association has had its current name since 2004, with pro musicae translating for music or, with positive intent, for music. Promusicae has been giving gold and platinum awards for music sales and use since the mid-1970s .
