Alexandra Stan
Alexandra Ioana Stan (born June 10, 1989 in Constanța ) is a Romanian singer who became known in the summer of 2011 with the title Mr. Saxobeat and reached the top 10 of the charts in some countries.
Career
Alexandra Stan attended the Liceul Teoretic Traian in Constanța. She studies at the Faculty of Management Andrei Șaguna .
2009–2012: Success with Mr. Saxobeat and Saxobeats
Stan participated in the Mamaia Festival in the Interpretation section. At the end of 2009 she released her first single Lollipop , which made it to number 18 in the Romanian charts.
The successor single Mr. Saxobeat was first released in late 2010 and became the most played number on Romanian radio stations. With the song she made it into the top 5 of the charts in 20 countries, including number 1 in over ten countries. She was also one of the few singers who could reach the US charts.
The debut album Saxobeats , released in late summer 2011, reached the top 30 of the album charts in Germany, Finland, Austria and Switzerland. It contains eight tracks, including the pre- release singles Lollipop and Mr. Saxobeat , five remixes and the third single Get Back (ASAP) .
Get Back was able to reach number one in Slovakia. The track moved up to fourth in Romania and eighth in Finland and Hungary. Since the song only appeared as a double single with Mr. Saxobeat in Germany , the track could not achieve its own placement in the charts.
With a remix to Mr. Saxobeat from the Michael Mind Project , which contains new vocals that were sung by the German rapper Carlprit, Stan decided to record his own song with Carlprit. This led to the development of the song One Million , which was released as a single in December 2011 and became another hit in several countries.
In 2012 she was awarded the European Border Breakers Award (EBBA).
2013: scandal with the manager
In June 2013 she went public to draw attention to grievances in the Romanian show industry. In addition, she showed herself with a swollen face on television there. The injuries are said to have resulted from the beatings of her manager, who, according to her, treated her "like a slave". In the meantime, Stan has separated from her manager and significant other and is now working with a new management team.
In August 2013, Baby, It's OK was released a new single. Here she worked with the German rap trio Follow Your Instinct . The track, which uses a sample of Give It Up by KC and the Sunshine Band in the chorus , was released with several remixes on August 16, 2013.
2014–2015: Unlocked
On April 28, 2014, she released the song Thanks for Leaving , which was recorded with her new team. Two more singles were then released, including Dance , which was released on July 18, 2014 and served to promote the third album. In the summer of 2014 she signed the record label Kontor Records . In July 2014 she presented her first release on the label. It is called Dance and was released worldwide on July 18, 2014. The singles Give Me Your Everything and Vanilla Chocolat were later released .
The album Unlocked was initially only released in Japan on August 27, 2014, and worldwide on November 25, 2014. Unlocked reached number 21 in Japan and was in the charts there for 17 weeks.
On June 8, 2015, the single We Wanna was released together with Inna and Daddy Yankee . The single made it to number 53 in Japan.
Since 2015: Alesta
The single I Did It, Mama! was released on November 25, 2015 and is the first single from their album Alesta , which was released in Japan on March 9, 2016. On March 2nd, the third single from the album was released, namely Balans together with Mohombi. The album also includes the single We Wanna , which was released in 2015 and featured on a re-release of their 2nd studio album Unlocked .
She became a member of the G Girls project , which is a band made up of singers Alexandra Stan, Inna , Antonia and Lori. Her debut single Call The Police was made available for download on June 14, 2016 and the video was released on YouTube on June 1, 2016. In 2017 she was replaced by the singer Lariss from the project.
