Inna
Inna is a female given name .
Origin and meaning
The name Inna was originally a male given name and corresponds to one of the three Christian martyrs Inna, Rimma and Pinna, who were canonized in the 2nd century AD. Inna's name days according to the Orthodox name calendar are February 2 and July 3, according to the Catholic name calendar January 20 and June 20. It is also derived as a short form from the name Inanna, which can be traced back to the Sumerian goddess Inanna and thus has a very profound history. Nowadays the name is given almost exclusively as a female first name and is more likely to be found in Eastern European language areas due to the unfamiliar pronunciation. The correct stress is on the final syllable "-na" and not on the first syllable "In-" as with the name Ina.
The meaning of the name is not clearly determined. In ancient Greek, the name is derived as a short form of Innocentia and thus has the meaning "the innocent". The old Latin meaning of the name Inna is translated as "fast river" or "bubbling water".
