Inna Frolowa

Inna Wassiljewna Frolowa ( Ukrainian Інна Василівна Фролова ; born June 3, 1965 in Dnipropetrovsk , Ukrainian SSR ) is a former Ukrainian rower who ran for the Soviet Union until 1991 .

Athletic career

Inna Frolowa took fourth place in the double scull at the 1987 World Championships together with Natalia Kwasja . For the 1988 season she moved into the double foursome to Iryna Kalimbet , Switlana Masij and Antonina Dumcheva , who had won bronze in the previous year. At the Olympic Games in Seoul in 1988 , the double scull from the GDR won ahead of the Soviet boat.

In 1989 Inna Frolowa returned to the double scull and finished fifth at the 1989 World Championships together with Anna Motretschenko. At the 1990 World Championships , Frolova won silver with Tetjana Ustyuschanina behind the double scull from the GDR . After a break from competition in 1991 Inna Frolowa joined the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona with Sarija Sakirowa for the United Team of the Commonwealth of Independent States , the two finished sixth.

Inna Frolowa did not return to the regatta courses until 1995, now in the Ukrainian jersey. After a tenth place at the 1995 World Championships , the Ukrainian double scull reached the A-final at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta after a fourth place in the preliminary run and a victory in the repechage , three seconds behind the German boat there was a silver medal decision, after which the Ukrainians had reached the finish line two hundredths of a second before the Canadians. For Inna Frolowa and Switlana Masij it was eight years after Seoul the second Olympic silver medal, for Dina Miftachutdynowa and Olena Ronshyna it was the first Olympic medal. At the 1997 World Championships on Lac d'Aiguebelette , the same four rowers won the bronze medal behind the Germans and Danes.

The 1.82 m tall Inna Frolowa rowed for Spartak Dnipropetrovsk .
