Tetiana Ustyushanina

Tetyana Illiwna Ustjuschanina ( Ukrainian Тетяна Іллівна Устюжаніна , Russian Татьяна Ильинична Устюжанина / Tatjana Ilyinichna Ustjuschanina * 6. May 1965 in Mariupol ) is a former Soviet and Ukrainian rowing athlete . She took part in the Olympic Games three times and won a bronze medal in 1992.

Athletic career

Ustyuschanina's career began at the 1990 World Championships in Tasmania, when she and Inna Frolowa won the silver medal in the double scull behind the East German Kathrin Boron and Beate Schramm . At the 1991 World Championships in Vienna , a Soviet national rowing team competed for the last time. In the quadruple sculls rowing Jelena Chlopzewa , Marja Omeljanowitsch , Tetyana Ustjuschanina and Mira Vaganova and won the silver medal behind the team from the reunited Germany. In 1992 Ustyushanina started at the Olympic Games in Barcelona in the United Team for the Commonwealth of Independent States . The double four with Antonina Selikowitsch , Tetjana Ustjuschanina, Ekaterina Karsten and Jelena Chlopzewa won the bronze medal behind the Germans and the Romanians.

The 1.85 m tall Ustyushanina started for Ukraine in 1993. At the 1993 World Championships she rowed in double sculls and double sculls, but only reached the B final in both boat classes; the first medal for Ukraine was won by the men's double foursome. At the 1994 World Championships , the men's quadruple won silver again, the women's double quad with Switlana Masij , Dina Miftachutdynowa , Olena Ronshyna and Tetjana Ustyuschanina came third behind the Germans and the Chinese. In 1995 Ustyushanina finished seventh with the double scull at the world championships . Even at the 1996 Olympic Games , the Ukrainian double scull did not reach the A final, Ustyushanina and Olena Reutova took eighth place. In 1999 Ustyuschanina returned to the regatta courses after a two-year break. The Ukrainian four-four with Jana Kramarenko , Switlana Masij, Tetjana Ustjuschanina and Olena Ronshyna won the silver medal behind the German four-scull. At the Olympic Games in Sydney Ustyushanina took fourth place together with Dina Miftachutdynowa, Switlana Masij and Olena Ronshyna.
