Cyrille Thomas Makanaky (born June 28, 1965 in Douala , Cameroon ) is a former Cameroonian football player .

Club career

He began his career in 1984 in France in the amateur field, from where he made the leap to Ligue 1 to Sporting Toulon in 1987 . In 1988 he moved to RC Lens . From there he returned to Toulon after a season. From 1990 to 1993 he played in Spain for CD Málaga and FC Villarreal . In 1994 he went to Israel to Maccabi Tel Aviv . After only one season he moved to the Barcelona Sporting Club in Ecuador , where he ended his playing career in 1997 after a flying visit to his former club Gazélec FC Ajaccio .

National player

Makanaky took part in the African Cup of Nations in 1988 , 1990 and 1992 and was in the squad of the "indomitable lions" at the 1990 World Cup , where he reached the quarter-finals with Cameroon . Between 1987 and 1993 he played 14 international matches in which he scored three goals.
