Inna (singer)
Inna (born October 16, 1986 in Mangalia ; civil Elena Alexandra Apostoleanu ) is a Romanian singer . Their music has stylistic elements from electro-pop , dance-pop and house .
Career
Inna grew up in the Black Sea coastal town of Neptune . In neighboring Mangalia she attended the commercial high school. After graduating, she began studying political science at the University of the district capital Constanța before starting her musical career in 2008. Inna took singing lessons in her youth. In February 2011, she became the first European singer to break the record of over 1 billion views with her YouTube videos.
Hot (2008-2011)
At the end of 2008 Inna's first single, Hot , was released, which reached number one in the Romanian Top 100 officially published in its home country at the time. But the song also became a club hit beyond the borders of Romania, especially in Southeastern European countries. In Spain, Hot reached number 1 in the Spanish charts in July 2009 . In the meantime, Inna landed further top 10 placements in Romania with the singles Love and Déjà Vu . At the MTV Europe Music Awards 2009 in Berlin she was named the best Romanian act.
In early 2010, Inna's debut single Hot charted in the UK, France, Germany and the USA. At the same time, Inna had her next success in Romania with Amazing , the second single after Hot, which was number one in the Romanian Top 100. In France, Déjà Vu, the third single in a row, made it into the top 10 in September 2010 . After Hot and Amazing , Déjà Vu reached sixth place. In the UK, the song only came in at number 60.
In the regional elections leading up to the MTV Europe Music Awards 2010 , Inna was voted best Romanian act for the second time in a row. At the same time, Sun Is Up developed into a great radio success in their homeland and climbed to number two in the Romanian Top 100. It is Inna's fifth top 10 hit in two years and the sixth to reach the top 20.
The song 10 Minutes , released in Romania in early 2010, hit the top ten of the charts in France in December 2010 as the fourth single in a row. Inna also received a nomination at the French NRJ Music Awards for best foreign discovery of the year. Sun Is Up became Inna's most successful international hit. In Switzerland and Germany, the song reached number three and number 26 in the charts, placing it higher than any other single by the singer before. On March 6, 2011, Sun Is Up also reached number two in the charts in France. While the song was announced in other countries as the first release from a new album, it was released in Great Britain in advance of the debut album Hot , which was released there in June 2011 , and was released on May 1, 2011 as the fifth single release.
I Am The Club Rocker (2011-2012)
On the occasion of the upcoming release of the announced second album I Am the Club Rocker , Inna set up an official website in April 2011, on which the CD cover could also be seen and a new single called Club Rocker was announced. The song was released on May 30, 2011. On June 20, 2011, Inna presented a remix of the song on her website, in which US rapper Flo Rida was a guest singer. Initially only released as a promo single in Spain, Un Momento , a collaboration with Spanish DJ Juan Magán, was officially released in July 2011 as the third coupling after Sun Is Up and Club Rocker .
With Endless , Inna released a fourth single from the album on November 25, 2011. The simultaneous release of the music video was accompanied by an anti-violence campaign in which the singer raised awareness of violence against women in marriage or relationships. The song reached number 5 in Romania, the best chart position for an Inna song since Sun Is Up .
In January 2012 Innas Single Club Rocker was able to place itself in the German-speaking countries in the charts. Also in January, Inna released a cover version of the Michel Teló song Ai Se Eu Te Pego! .
In April 2012, WOW was the fifth and final single from the album I Am The Club Rocker , which reached number 10 on the România Airplay 100.
Party Never Ends (2012-2014)
In February 2012 Inna presented Caliente, her first self-written song produced by Play & Win, on her YouTube account. As with Un Momento , Inna sang in English and Spanish with Caliente . On May 4, 2012, Caliente was offered for download as the official radio version on iTunes and the music video was released on May 14, 2012. However, the single only reached number 84 on the România Airplay 100.
On May 29, 2012, Inna's record company Roton Records sent Tu şi eu another potential single to the Romanian radio stations, which enabled the song to enter the România Airplay 100 on June 17, 2012 thanks to massive airplay. After the music video for the single was published in early August 2012, Tu şi eu climbed to number 5 on the România Airplay 100 and made Inna the most successful Romanian artist with eight top 10 hits since starting her career. On August 5, 2012 INNdiA , a collaboration with their producer team Play & Win, debuted at number 93 on the România Airplay 100. Still without a music video, but with increasing radio use, the song climbed to number 66. After the video was released, the Song finally ranked 10th in early January 2013 and became her ninth top 10 song.
Also in January 2013, the single More Than Friends was released together with the accompanying music video as a foretaste of the third studio album. However, the collaboration with the Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee only reached 20th place in the România Airplay 100. The song POHUI by the Moldovan music project Carla's Dreams , on which Inna was a guest singer, proved to be more successful ; With number 3 in the Romanian charts, POHUI achieved the highest chart position for Inna since Sun Is Up .
Inna's third album Party Never Ends was released worldwide on March 4, 2013 and also included the previously released songs Caliente , Crazy Sexy Wild or Tu şi eu and INNdiA . While Be My Lover was selected as the next international single after More Than Friends and at the same time Dame Tú Amor was released specifically in Mexico, Inna released the promo single Spre mare in her home country , which was later released alongside POHUI on the Romanian deluxe edition of the album and placed in 19th place on the România Airplay 100.
As the last coupling from the album, the singer released the song In Your Eyes on October 16, 2013 . For the single version and its video, Inna was able to win the Puerto Rican reggaetón rapper Yandel as a guest musician. The song reached number 44 in Romania and number 31 in Spain in the respective single charts.
Summer Days (2014-2016)
On April 14, 2014 Inna released Cola Song, the first song from her fourth studio album, which is to be released in 2015. On the single, she worked with Colombian reggaeton singer J Balvin (Tranquila) , who also appeared in the accompanying music video. For Cola Song , Inna sampled the saxophone instrumental from the song Piñata 2014 by Andreas Schuller, to which she herself contributed the vocals at the end of 2013. Also co-produced by Schuller himself, Cola Song Inona is the first single to top the Romanian iTunes charts since the store opened there in late September 2011. Parallel to the Cola song , the Romanian rapper Puya released his new single Strigă! , on which Inna participated as a guest musician. Both songs made it into the România Airplay 100 in May 2014 and reached number 2 (Strigă!) And 34 (Cola song) . Striga! was the singer's most successful single after Amazing at that time in Romania .
Cola Song is the first song since Club Rocker that also made it into major European hit lists. It reached number 77 in Germany and number 36 in Switzerland. In Spain, it is the third most successful song by the singer with 8th place.
With Good Time , Inna released the next single from the planned new studio album worldwide on July 2, 2014. As a guest artist for the song, she was able to win the American rapper Pitbull . In the România Airplay 100, place 67 was the highest ranking.
Before the official fourth studio album was released, Inna announced the release of her first EP, Summer Days . On August 18, 2014, Inna listed the planned release dates of the EP songs Take Me Higher (August 25), Low (September 1), Devil's Paradise (September 8) and Body And on her Facebook page and Twitter account The Sun (September 15). With Tell Me , however, another new song from the EP was released on September 15, 2014, while the release of Body And The Sun was postponed to September 22. With Summer Days , the title track and sixth song of the EP were finally released on September 29, 2014.
On November 25, 2014, Diggy Down was another single from the new album released. Inna worked on the song with the American electro-pop duo Marian Hill and landed their third number 1 hit on the România Airplay 100 after Hot (2008) and Amazing (2009). It is still her twelfth top 10 position and the 24th chart entry in her native Romania. In the 2015 year-end ranking of the România Airplay 100, Diggy Down took third place.
Inna was a guest singer on the single Summer In December by the Romanian dance and pop band Morandi . The song, which was released on December 17, 2014, reached number 80 on the România Airplay 100 and stayed in the hit list for three weeks.
In May 2015 the Romanian band 3 Sud Est published a collaboration with Inna on April 15, 2015, which reached 25th place in the România Airplay 100. On June 8, 2015, INNA, the Romanian pop singer Alexandra Stan ( Mr. Saxobeat ) and the rapper Daddy Yankee , who had already worked on Inna's single More Than Friends , appeared together with We Wanna . We Wanna was ranked 59th in the România Airplay 100.
On July 7, 2015, Inna announced the release of her self-titled fourth album on September 15, 2015. After the EP Summer Days was never officially released, its songs, with the exception of the tracks Take Me Higher and Summer Days , were released on the track list of the studio album alongside Diggy Down and Summer In December . Take Me Higher and the singles Cola Song and Good Time were only released on Body And The Sun , the Japanese version of the album.
Bop Bop was released as the next international single on July 13, 2015. The song, on which the American singer and songwriter Eric Turner took part as a guest artist, followed on from the success of Diggy Down almost seamlessly . On July 26, 2015, Bop Bop debuted in the România Airplay 100 at number 64 and rose to number 2 in the charts on October 11, 2015.
In the run-up to the MTV Europe Music Awards 2015 in Milan, Inna was named best Romanian act for the third time in her career.
On the single from Carla's Dreams, Te rog , which was released on October 19, 2015, Inna could be heard again as a guest singer and can also be seen in the accompanying music video. In contrast to the joint track POHUI from 2013, Te rog refrained from identifying Inna as a guest musician. In the România Airplay 100, the song reached number 1 at the end of January 2016.
On November 12th, 2015 Inna released the music video for the next single Yalla , which was already made available for download for the album release on October 30th, 2015 and was included in the playlists of Romanian radio stations. Inna sings in the song for the first time, partly in Arabic. In the România Airplay 100, Yalla debuted on November 15, 2015 at number 94 and reached its highest position with number 13 on May 1, 2016.
At the beginning of 2016 Inna continued the promotion for the album and released the video for the next single Rendez Vous on February 4th . On April 3, 2016, the song rose to number 73 on the România Airplay 100 and reached its highest ranking of 45 on May 22, 2016.
Under the project name G Girls, Inna released the song Call The Police together with her Romanian singing colleagues Alexandra Stan, Antonia and Lori . The accompanying music video was released on June 1, 2016. The single entered the România Airplay 100 on July 10, 2016 at number 86, peaked at number 64 and fell off the charts after four weeks.
Nirvana (2016-2018)
At the end of April 2016 Inna shot the music video for the next single Heaven in Mauritius . The song was released on June 7, 2016 together with the video and reached number 58 on the România Airplay 100 on July 3, 2016. In its sixteenth week of the chart, the song achieved its highest ranking with number 4. For her birthday on October 16, Inna released Cum ar fi? a Romanian-language song as a birthday present for her fans. On October 30, 2016, Cum ar fi? ranked 82 of the România Airplay 100 and reached 33rd place as the highest position on January 15, 2017.
After the promo single Say It With Your Body , which was made available for download on iTunes from September 30, 2016, Inna released Gimme Gimme, an official single from the planned fifth studio album and the accompanying music video, on February 1, 2017 . On February 12, 2017, the song entered the România Airplay 100 at number 94 and climbed 45 places to 49 in the following week. On April 9, 2017, the song reached its highest position at number 16.
Parallel to the growing success of Gimme Gimme , Inna released the G Girls on March 3, 2017, a second single entitled Milk & Honey . However, Alexandra Stan was replaced by singer Lariss as the fourth member of the band. The song made its debut on March 19, 2017 at number 94 on the România Airplay 100 and reached its highest position at number 67 in the third week of the chart. The chart performance for Milk & Honey in Romania was similarly disappointing as its predecessor Call The Police .
In April 2017 Inna lent her voice for songs on two projects: Marco & Seba, two of the members of their Play & Win production team, released the single show Me The Way on April 23 , Carla's Dreams released the song Tu și eu two days later . For Carla's Dreams it is the fourth collaboration with Inna after POHUI (2013), Fie ce-o fi (2014) and Te rog (2015). Both singles made it into the România Airplay 100 in May 2017: Tu și eu debuted on May 7th at number 82 and reached its highest position on June 25, 2017 with number 53, during Show Me The Way on May 14 at number 95 and climbed to 44th place in the following weeks. Finally, the Dutch DJ Sam Feldt was able to win Inna as a guest singer in addition to the Italian electro house duo Lush & Simon. His song Fade Away was officially released on June 9, 2017, and the accompanying official music video was released on July 14, 2017.
On June 21, 2017 Inna presented Ruleta, the next official single of her planned fifth studio album as the successor to Gimme Gimme . For the song and its music video, she brought Erick to her side as a guest musician. Real name Erik Tchatchoua, the singer became known in 2015 through the Romanian edition of the casting show X Factor . On July 9, 2017, Ruleta made her debut in the România Airplay 100. With 32nd place, it is one of the highest chart entries for a single by the singer. On August 27, 2017, the song reached position 3, the highest chart position.
As the next song Inna placed Notă de plată in the România Airplay 100, a collaboration with the Moldovan music project The Motans. Released on September 26, 2017, the single entered the Airplay 100 at number 79 on October 8, 2017, while Inna was also in the charts with Ruleta and Te rog in the same week . On November 23, 2017, the title and cover picture of Inna's new album Nirvana was published on Instagram , and the track list was announced on Facebook on November 27, 2017 . The single Heaven and the promo single Say It With Your Body are missing from the album, but Cum ar fi? , Tu și eu and Notă de plată taken into account. On November 28, 2017, the third and final official single Nirvana and the accompanying music video were released.
While Notă de plată reached number 23 on January 14, 2018, Nirvana made his debut in the România Airplay 100 in parallel at number 50. Inna's 30th and 31st top 50 hits in her native Romania as a soloist or in collaboration with other artists . Notă de plată reached its highest ranking in the Airplay 100 on February 25, 2018 with 6th place, Nirvana on April 29, 2018 with 2nd place; it is the highest-ranked single for the singer since Bop Bop from 2015 (also number 2).
With Me Gusta , a new single, independent of the album Nirvana , was released on February 13, 2018 together with the corresponding video. On April 15, 2018, the song was placed for one week in the România Airplay 100 at number 89. On March 9, 2018, the Dutch DJ Dannic released his single Stay , on which Inna was a guest singer. Another collaboration between Innas and The Motans appeared on April 27, 2018 in the form of the single Pentru că . On May 13, 2018, the song debuted at number 94 on the România Airplay 100 and rose 34 ranks to 60 in the following week. Pentru că reached its highest position on September 9, 2018 with third place .
The best-of album 10 ans de hits was released in France on June 22, 2018 ! , which also officially included the single Heaven for the first time . In February 2018, La roulette, a promo single for compilation, was digitally released. It is an English-Spanish-French version of the single Ruleta , on which the Algerian DJ Sem and the French R&B singer Matt Houston also participated as guest artists. 10 ans de hits! debuted in the French album charts on June 25, 2018 at number 105 and in the following week reached number 94 as the highest ranking, which the compilation held for 2 weeks.
On September 6, 2018, the singer presented her next single No Help and the accompanying music video, which received over a million views on YouTube within three days . The song debuted on September 23, 2018 at number 73 of the România Airplay 100 and reached its highest ranking with number 65 the following week.
Yo (2018-2019)
In October 2018 Inna concretized her plans to release an album with songs sung purely in Spanish. Influenced by the musical impressions on her concert tour through Latin America, she also took control of the production and songwriting, working with the Romanian producer David Ciente. In July 2018, the first songs sung in Spanish were released as promo singles as part of a Coca-Cola campaign in Romania, before the first official release of the planned album Yo was released on November 2, 2018 with RA . Inna received good reviews for the single and over 4.5 million views on YouTube within two weeks for the music video published at the same time. In November 2018, some Romanian radio and TV stations started adding the next single Iguana and the accompanying music video to their programs. The song reached the România Airplay 100 before the planned release and debuted on November 25, 2018 at number 91. On November 30, 2018, the single and music video were officially released. On December 2, 2018, RA also made the leap into the România Airplay 100. While the successor Iguana improved by 54 positions to 37th and the predecessor Pentru că was 40th, the song rose to 71st. While RA said goodbye to the charts after three weeks, Iguana reached its highest ranking on February 24, 2019 with rank 4. On January 18, 2019, Sin Ti, the album's third single, was released. The music video that appeared at the same time received over 11,000 views on YouTube within a few hours. On March 7, 2019, the video for the fourth single Tu Manera celebrated its video premiere . At the same time, the song was made available for download. Due to the success of Iguana (including 16 weeks in the top 10 of the România Airplay 100), the two successors hardly received any attention on the radio and on the TV music channels in Romania. Sin Ti missed the România Airplay 100; only Tu Manera debuted at number 83 on April 21, 2019, reached number 78 as the highest position in the third week of the chart and then fell off the hit list.
Simultaneously with the album Yo , the fifth coupling Te Vas and the accompanying music video were released on May 31, 2019 . The song debuted on June 16, 2019 at number 81 on the România Airplay 100 and reached its highest position in the eighth chart week with number 36. Around the album release, Inna presented music videos for the promo singles Fuego , Gitana , Contigo and Sí, Mamá , Locura and La Vida , in which she embodies various female characters, dressed in various outfits from brands such as Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana . Director Bogdan Pǎun staged every song on the album in a corresponding music video.
On August 23, 2019, the Dutch DJ duo Yellow Claw released their single Baila Conmigo and engaged the American rapper Saweetie and the singer Jenn Morel from the Dominican Republic as guest musicians in addition to the Romanian Inna.
Bebe and Not My Baby (2019-2020)
In November 2019 Inna returned to the sound of the album Nirvana and released the single Bebe on November 4th , which was again produced by two members of her Play & Win production team (Sebastian Barac and Marcel Botezan) and for which she and the Ugandan singer Vinka worked together. The two landed a radio hit in Romania: On November 17, 2019, Bebe debuted at number 86 on the România Airplay 100 and improved steadily in the following weeks. On March 15, 2020, and thus in the 16th week of the chart, Bebe reached the top of the România Airplay 100; it is Inna's fourth and Vinka's first number one hit in Romania.
On April 2, 2020, Inna published her next single Not My Baby on her social networks, initially in the form of a lyric video. The official music video was released on April 24, 2020. On May 3, 2020, Not My Baby debuted in the România Airplay 100 at number 95 and reached number 33 in the eighth chart week. With Sober , Inna released a promo single and an accompanying music video. Together with the Romanian producer Sickotoy, Inna also released the single VKTM on May 28, 2020 , the music video of which was released two days later. On July 12, 2020, the song debuted at number 92 on the România Airplay 100, fell off the charts the following week and returned to number 100 on July 26, 2020. Another promo single was released on June 26, 2020 with Nobody . It is the first song since Heaven (2016) that made it into the top 100 of the German iTunes charts. A collaboration with her Romanian musician colleague Minelli in the form of the single and the music video Discoteka was released on July 23, 2020 and entered the România Airplay 100 at number 98 on August 16, 2020. In the following week, the two singers reached number 73.
