Marian Hill is an American electro pop duo from Philadelphia .

Band history

Musician Jeremy Lloyd and singer Samantha Gongol knew each other from school when they took part in a singing competition. Lloyd is the son of a conductor and an opera singer and studied composition. Gongol went to New York to work as a songwriter after school. In 2013 they met again and merged as Marian Hill . In the same year they spread their song Whiskey on the Internet and thus attracted attention for the first time. Another song Lips and the EP Play followed the following year. They were also involved in the song Diggy Down by the Romanian singer Inna , who samples a piece from her song Got It . Inna had a big hit in her home country.

In early 2015 they were signed by Republic Records and they released their first official EP Sway that same year . At the end of the year, the song One Time was released , with which they entered the US alternative charts for the first time. Smaller successes were then the dance hit I Want You and the song Back to Me together with Lauren Jauregui from Fifth Harmony . In early 2017, Marian Hill released their debut album Act One . It entered the album charts at number 42 and reached the top 5 of the alternative and rock charts . The first single, Down , became an international hit and hit the charts in France and German-speaking countries, among others.
