3rei Sud Est is a Romanian dance, pop and eurodance band founded in 1997 and a former boy group from Constanța . The group became known through songs like Te voi pierde , Clipe , Ai plecat and Vorbe care dor . With around 1,000,000 million records sold, 3rei Sud Est is one of the most successful bands in the Romanian-speaking area.

Band history

In 1997, Laurențiu Duță (born 1976 in Năvodari ), Viorel Șipoș and Mihai Budeanu (both born in 1974 in Constanța) founded a trio under the name AV37 . Thanks to his three-year studies at the University of Bucharest, Laurențiu Duță was able to contribute some suggestions and sometimes improvements to the music style, song text writing and the production of songs and albums.

In 1997 the three singers sang in the studio for the music label Cat Music in Bucharest and signed their record deal. This was the beginning of the group's future career. At the end of 1997, the name was changed to 3rei Sud Est (Eng. "Three Southeasts"). The name refers to the place of origin; Constanța is located in the south-east of Romania on the Black Sea.

The first jointly produced and published song is called Ai plecat ("You are gone"). It entered the Romanian charts one day after its release, followed in May 1998 by the first studio album under the title 3rei Sud Est . This gave the band a higher profile and was sold over 200,000 times. At the same time, Ai plecat again reached a high chart position in the Romanian Top 100 for five weeks. In addition, the single was named best of the year at the Mamaia Festival .

In the winter of 1998 a remix album called 3rei Sud Est Mix was released . They then won the Balletine's la Sectiunea Dance Award, which is presented annually by the music label MediaPro Music .

In 1999 3rei Sud Est released their third studio album Visul meu ("My Dream"). This sold 30,000 times and contains, among other things, the song Tu eşti vinovat , which was also able to place in the national charts.

About a year later, in June 2000, the band released the fourth album Îmi plac ochii tăi (“I like your look”), the included track Te aştept să vii (“I wait to live”) reached a top position in the charts. At the same time, the three singers received the Mamaia Festival Award for the best dance group of the year for a second time .

With the release of Te voi pierde (“I will lose you”) the level of awareness of the band increased significantly; For two weeks the song rose to number one in the Romanian Top Ten and became one of the most successful of 2001 with 12,000 copies.

In 2008 3rei Sud Est decided to dissolve the group and to go their own way for the time being. As they later announced on television and on the Internet, all three wanted to devote themselves to a career as a solo artist.

After a six-year hiatus, Duță, Șipoș and Budeanu announced in 2014 that they would reunite 3rei Sud Est.

On April 15, 2015, the group released the song Mai stai (“Stay longer”) in collaboration with Romanian singer Inna , which reached 25th place in the România Airplay 100.

That same year the group made a guest appearance in the music video of Elena Gheorghe's single Autograf .
