Duță was born in 1976 in the Romanian seaside resort of Năvodari in the Constanța district as the son of the musician and guitarist Titi Duță. There he attended the local elementary school from 1983 to 1987, then middle school until 1993. After graduating, he studied music for three years at the University of Bucharest and learned to play the piano and guitar on the side.

At the age of 17 Duță began to compose and produce his own pieces of music. In 1993, at the time of his graduation, he brought out his first song Cifre ( digits ), and in the same year Duță appeared for the first time at the Mamaia Festival , and later at the Pop Music Festival.

In 1997 he founded the pop trio AV37 together with Viorel Șipoș and Mihai Budeanu , which was renamed 3rei Sud Est at the end of the year . At the same time, after successfully auditioning in the recording studio, the three singers signed a record deal with the producers of Cat Music . This was the beginning of his career.

At the beginning of 2000 he met the singer Giulia Anghelescu from Galați . Duță proposed to her to form a band under the name Candy , which consisted of Anghelescu and three other singers. Anghelescu responded to this suggestion and founded the Trio Candy with Elena Vasilache and Claudia Pavel , which after a short time had a hit with the song Mergem la mare ("We go to the sea").

The song Te voi pierde (I will lose you) , released in summer 2001, rose to number one in the Romanian charts. The singles Clipe (moments) followed in 2004 and Vorbe care dor (words that hurt) in 2008 , which also reached number one. Duță was involved in writing the lyrics for all three songs. In 2008 Duță declared alongside Șipoș and Budeanu that they wanted to break up the group and go their separate ways for the time being. After leaving the band, he turned to producing songs by other singers, including Elena Gheorghe with her single The Balkan Girls , which reached number 19 in the Romanian Top 100.

In 2012 he released the song Shining Heart with Andreea Bănică , which was number one in the “Romanian Top Ten” for seven weeks. In the same year, both singers received the Romanian Music Award for Best Song for the song .

In 2014 Duță celebrated a comeback with Șipoș and Budeanu with 3rei Sud Est, in the same year he won the Romanian Music Award for Best Producer as best producer of the year.
