biography

1978 to 1998: early life and first musical experiences

Bănică was born in 1978 in Eforie Sud, a district of the city of Eforie . When she was six, her parents separated and her mother became a single parent. Bănică has an older sister.

Her talent for singing was discovered at an early age. Adrian Păunescu became aware of them and then arranged for Bănică appearances at local events and smaller concerts.

At the same time, she began taking piano and private singing lessons on the side.

Start your career with Exotic

In 1998 Bănică qualified for the Mamaia Festival , where she met Claudia Pătrășcanu and Iulia Chelaru, among others . At their suggestion to found a pop trio under the name Exotic , Bănică agreed.

After successful auditions and convinced producers, Bănică, Chelaru and Pătrășcanu signed a contract with the record company MediaPro Music .

With the help of the producers of MediaPro Music, the first studio album Sexxy was created ; The trio delivered a hit with the single of the same name. Then the three singers recorded the second album Passional , which, however, did not reach the charts. After the dwindling success, Bănica, Pătrășcanu and Chelaru decided to dissolve Exotic.

2001 to 2005: Blondy

In February 2001 Andreea Bănică founded a female duo with Cristina Rus under the name Blondy . The first single after the foundation was released under the title Nu meriți dragostea mea ("You don't deserve my love"); on May 21st of the same year followed the first studio album Atât de Aproape ("So close"). The album has the genres of electronic pop music and house, and a remix album of the same was released two months later.

The second album O parte din tine ("Part of you") was released on June 12, 2002. This contains 16 tracks, including 5 remixes. The two tracks originally contained on the album Doar o noapte ("Just one night") and Vreau să mai stai doar o zi ("Stay just one more day") were removed shortly before the release.

In 2003 the two singers published the last joint studio album Dulce și amar ("Sweet and bitter"), from which two tracks were also removed. The following year, Cristina Rus decided to leave the duo and pursue a solo career. Bănică published under the name Blondy until 2005.

Two years later, the fourth and final studio album Dansez, Dansez ("Dancing, Dancing") was released, on which Bănică worked with the music producer Laurențiu Duță. The album reached number one in the national album charts and was sold around 15,000 times. Then she also devoted herself to her solo career.

Since 2005: solo career

After Rus left, the last album Dansez, Dansez was released under Blondy. After that, Bănică put this name aside and has been producing and publishing under her natural name Andreea Bănică since the end of 2005.

After two years she celebrated a comeback with the single Fiesta , which reached number four in the Romanian Top Ten.

On May 25, Bănică released her second studio album Rendez-vous , which climbed to number one in the charts like Dansez, Dansez and was awarded a gold record. The Romanian music producer Laurențiu Duță , Marius Moga and the composer Taraful din Clejani contributed to the album .
