Antonia Clara Iacobescu (born April 12, 1989 in Bucharest , Romania ; also known as Antonia ) is a Romanian-American R&B and soul singer, video performer and model.

Life

Antonia Clara Iacobescu was born in 1989 in the Romanian capital Bucharest. When she was five years old, her parents immigrated to the United States. She grew up in the US state of Utah and in Las Vegas , where she also graduated from high school.

Iacobescu has been singing since she was ten and has played in the school choir of her school.

Music career

At the age of 18 Iacobescu returned to Romania, where she met the music producer Tom Boxer , with whom she recorded her first song Roses on fire . The song quickly became a hit and rose to the top of the charts in various European countries. In addition, a successful music video for the song was released, also filmed and produced by Boxer. Iacobescu had his international breakthrough with the release of these songs.

In 2010 Iacobescu released her second debut single Morena in a duet with Tom Boxer. This single entered the Bulgarian charts at number thirteen and was voted the most played hit in the country. This song also hit the dance charts in Belgium, Spain and the Netherlands.

After the birth of her first child, she devoted herself largely to the solo business. In 2011 her first single Marionette was finally released , but it could not reach a chart position.

In 2015 Iacobescu released her first studio album This is Antonia . This album contains 12 singles and was released in a physical and digital version.

Since 2016 Antonia has been a member of the four-piece pop band G Girls , consisting of Inna, Alexandra Stan and Loredana "Lori" Ciobotaru. The first published single Call the Police reached number 64 in the Romanian charts. At the beginning of March 2017, the second single Milk & Honey was released .

Model career

Iacobescu's career in the modeling business began in the United States. Her modeling skills were first discovered in Las Vegas. Iacobescu then took part in numerous photo shoots.

In 2013 she brought out her first own clothing collection, MOJA .

Personal

Iacobescu was married to Vincenzo Castellano from 2011 to 2013. She gave birth to her first child at the end of August 2010. Three years later, Iacobescu filed for divorce. Castellano then denied custody of his child.

In the same year, she got engaged to Romanian pop singer Alex Velea , with whom she gave birth to a son in December 2014.
