Metaphysics (born December 8, 1973 in Mbare, a suburb of Harare , Zimbabwe , as Herbert Qwela Schwamborn ) is a Zimbabwean rapper , composer and music producer with roots in Zimbabwe and Germany .

Career

While still in high school, the son of a German and a Zimbabwean woman presented the radio program Young Zimbabwe and founded the rap group Lethal Language with Tel a Ryme in 1985. After Lethal Language split up , he founded the hip-hop group A Peace of Ebony in 1991 under the pseudonym Qwela the Brainchild with rapper Tony Chihota, producer Keith Farquharson and singer Chiwoniso Maraire . The band sang and rapped in English and Shona , one of the national languages ​​of Zimbabwe, and toured South Africa and Madagascar . In 1996 Schwamborn released an album with Tendai Vicki under the band name Kataklizim and moved to Johannesburg , where he promoted rap music in South Africa with the television program Shell Road to Fame Talent Show .

In 1998 he went to the USA for six months, worked briefly as a cameraman for the MTV show TRL and adopted the pseudonym Metaphysics. After his visa expired, he settled in Cologne in 1999 to find out where his father is from. About the first work with on the debut album, text and sound by Clueso and with the formation Mellowbag and Migrant Souls 2001 he came in contact with Brothers Keepers . From 2002 he released albums as a solo artist and with Migrant Souls. After the first features for the Sons of Mannheim on their album Zion and appearances by Migrant Souls in the opening act for the band around Xavier Naidoo , he regularly works with the Sons of Mannheim and wrote Everything can get better for Xavier Naidoo.

Metaphysics has a younger brother, Rudolf "Rudy" Schwamborn , who also appears under the stage names Riz Allah and Carlprit. Together with his brother, he runs the music label Gandanga Music. Metaphysics lives in Wuppertal and runs a music studio there.

In May 2013 he formed the music group DNGRS Crew (short for Dangerous Crew ) together with Carlprit , Marlon B. and Tony T. They recorded their first single with DJ Mase. It was released on May 24, 2013 via Kontor Records .
