Bianca "Bibi" Classen (* 6. February 1993 in Cologne as Bianca Heinicke ) is a German Webvideoproduzentin . She has been running the BibisBeautyPalace YouTube channel since December 2012 , on which she publishes videos on the topics of fashion , cosmetics , lifestyle and pop culture for a young target group . The channel is one of the most subscribed German-speaking YouTube channels .

Life

She grew up in Cologne; her mother is an educator , her father works in the field . After graduating from high school , she began studying social sciences , which she dropped out. She lives in Cologne and has been married to Julian Claßen, who runs a YouTube channel as Julienco , since September 2018 . The couple have two children.

Career

On December 2, 2012, she uploaded the first video of her channel BibisBeautyPalace ( Bibi's beauty palace ) to YouTube. At first she limited herself to the topics of fashion and cosmetics, presented cosmetic products and clothing and gave make-up instructions and fashion tips. With her channel, she won the 2014 PlayAward of the Videodays in the category Beauty, Lifestyle, Fashion .

As the channel grew in popularity, she began to dedicate her videos to lifestyle and private life. She also publishes 10 humorous ways ... videos in which she exaggerates topic-related behaviors. With several million views, these are some of her most successful videos.

She appears in many of her YouTube videos with her husband Julienco. Julian Claßen & Bianca Heinicke GbR , named after the two, operates as the operator of BibisBeautyPalace. Until 2015, Claßen entered into regular collaborations with befriended YouTubers Dagi Bee and Liont .

In 2014 she was hired by the Thomas Cook Group as an advertising medium for the tour operator Neckermann Reisen . The web offers around BibisBeautyPalace have been managed and marketed by the Cologne artist agency Check One Two Perfect GmbH, whose co-owner is the actor Tom Beck , since October 2014 .

BibisBeautyPalace is one of the five most subscribed German-speaking YouTube channels and one of the ten most successful in terms of video views. According to estimates, Claßen could earn more than 100,000 euros a month through Adsense , sponsoring , testimonials , promotional items and commissions from affiliate marketing as well as her cosmetics brand Bilou ("Bibi Loves U").

In May 2017 she released her first single under the name Bibi H. with the song How It Is (Wap Bap ...) . The song had been written by Sam Sommer and Dave Knight a few years earlier and was released by Warner Music . The song reached the top ten of the music charts in Germany and Austria, but became the worst-rated video on a German-speaking YouTube channel on YouTube with over 3 million dislikes (mid-2019).

criticism

When she and her friend YouTuber Dagi Bee invited her fans to an unauthorized autograph session on Roncalliplatz in downtown Cologne in February 2014 , police said around 500  teenagers accepted this invitation, and a large crowd formed. After the fan meeting escalated and there was mass hysteria , the event had to be canceled for security reasons. Four young fans were slightly injured. A fine procedure was initiated against the two YouTubers . Even at further meetings, the security could not be guaranteed, which is why the events were canceled.

You and other German YouTubers were criticized in 2015 by satirist and presenter Jan Böhmermann, among others, for hidden advertising, which is aimed primarily at minors. Such marketing principles, which are widely used as a business model by many YouTubers , are denounced by the critics. So-called influencer marketing and “shameless product placement ” are aimed primarily at a young target group that often does not yet have the appropriate media skills to recognize the advertising purpose of such videos. The relationship of trust between the leading figures and their young mass audience is exploited.

When Deutsche Telekom, in cooperation with her, launched a “Bibi-Phone”, a special version of the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua smartphone at a price of around 250 euros, in October 2015 , it caused a shit storm on social media . Above all, the inflated price and the marketing to the mostly younger Bibi fans were criticized. In interviews she gave in connection with a conference for influencer marketing held in Berlin at the end of 2015, Claßen expressed little understanding for this criticism and confessed that she had no problems with surreptitious advertising, but that "the understanding for it is still far too low" and only start to grow slowly. In 2019 she was again criticized by Böhmermann. This time because of her involvement in commercials for the mobile game Coin Master , which contains elements of gambling and is primarily aimed at a younger target group.
