Journalism

Blogs

Sixtus runs its own blog. In 2010 Sixtus initiated the blog project WirHabenKeineAngst.de on Tumblr , with which Internet users can speak out against fear of terrorism and the related tightened security policy. In 2010 Sixtus opposed the introduction of what is known as an ancillary copyright for press publishers in several articles . His open letter to newspaper publishers, first published in DeBug magazine, was published as a full-page advertisement in the specialist magazines Kontakter and Kress Report after a successful crowdfunding campaign with the motto "Sixtus instead of Böller" and produced as an audio version by Deutschlandradio Wissen . The Axel Springer manager Christoph Keese , one of the initiators of the legal campaign for ancillary copyright, placed ads on Google in 2011 that were displayed when "Mario Sixtus" was entered and promoted Keese's political position. The media journalist Stefan Niggemeier made this unusual practice public in September 2011. A quote from Sixtus' letter was used by Google for a campaign against ancillary copyright.

book

In October 2019 Sixtus published the non-fiction book Why Think About the Future? , in which he deals with the question of why people have difficulties dealing with the future from different perspectives.

Social media

Sixtus has been active on Twitter since 2007 . There he attracted media attention in particular with criticism of the Springer Group and the Bundeswehr . In 2019, in response to various tweets from world blogger Don Alphonso, he called on employees of the Springer publishing house to be socially excluded. For this he was criticized in the FAZ and in the world . In 2020, as a reaction to the possibility for soldiers of the Bundeswehr to use the Deutsche Bahn in uniform for free, he wrote the tweet “What kind of liquids do you have to have consumed to get the idea that in mercilessly overcrowded ICEs the additional presence of Soldiers with field baggage for a higher acceptance of the soldier's profession and not lead to cold hatred of all camouflage suits? " After Bild sharply criticized the tweet, it was picked up by other tabloid media and Deutschlandfunk . Sixtus defended its position in a blog post. In March of that year, he asked other users on Twitter to immediately block accounts without followers. The former Bild editor-in-chief Kai Diekmann responded to the tweet with the request to block "assholes" directly, he was starting with Sixtus. Sixtus sent Diekmann an injunction through his lawyer . Diekmann replied that Sixtus used the swear word to refer to various people on Twitter. Sixtus later withdrew the request from the Berlin Regional Court .
