She demanded that journalists should treat citizens with understanding and respect, and vice versa. Journalists make mistakes, but that is not yet fake news . The interview led to controversial reactions. Heribert Prantl spoke of a mistake, as Hayali paved the way for the newspaper to find a new readership that “does not necessarily feel at home on the far right”. Jan Fleischhauer countered that if you weren't a politician, you didn't have to worry about increasing the circulation of the newspaper: “They do their thing. They ask me, I'll give them an answer. ”Hayali commented on the criticism on Twitter .

She received money from Amazon and BMW , among others . This was reported by the NDR media magazine Zapp in 2018 . She herself sees no loss of impartiality in her critical work as a professional journalist. These are not advertising appearances. "I often volunteer or ask to donate the intended fee," she emphasized. "Just like I donate every prize money that I receive through awards."

Volker Lilienthal , professor of journalism, criticized the fact that in the future Hayali might no longer be able to report neutrally about her clients. Furthermore, in contrast to commissioned moderation, good journalism means that you can choose topics and conversation partners yourself. The appearances should not be seen as a journalistic service, but as PR for companies and associations in the private sector.
