Public opinion on computer games

The end of 2012 criticized Siegismund post publicly the ZDF - TV magazine Frontal21 of 11 December 2012 in several videos he hochlud on YouTube. The focus of his criticism is that concerning the contribution many false information was free-2-play - MMOs were used as true and researched facts. Many statements were based on half-truths. He also criticized the responsible contributor Regine Pfeiffer (* 1941), a freelancer at the Criminological Research Institute of Lower Saxony (KFN for short). Siegismund criticized Pfeiffer's personal closeness to the KFN, as she is the sister of the head of the Christian Pfeiffer Institute , and the fact that Pfeiffer does not play computer games herself, but only watches children and adolescents and evaluates the reactions of the test subjects . Siegismund's contribution to the Frontal21 report led to an almost six-month discussion between Pfeiffer and Siegismund and his community, which later deviated from the actual topic and in which both sides insulted each other.

On October 31, 2013 Siegismund was a guest in the talk show Talk in Hangar-7, broadcast on ServusTV, on the subject of Attack from the Apparent World - How Dangerous Are Computer Games? Regine Pfeiffer was also invited. Siegismund once again mentioned the main argument as the fact that Pfeiffer does not play the games himself, but lets others play them and watches.

“If you just watch a game, treat it like a movie. But now this medium lives from interactivity. "

- Fabian Siegismund

He also quarreled again with Pfeiffer's title as a games expert.

In the interactive ZDFinfo political broadcast log in on May 14, 2014 with the topic “Are games really just a game?” Siegismund was a guest as the “top game expert in the country”. He argued against the media educator Sabine Schiffer, who took a critical position towards computer games . In his opinion, according to an Internet survey by the broadcaster, 99.0 percent of the participating viewers joined the show towards the end of the program.
