Nela Lee (born May 28, 1980 in Tettnang , Baden-Württemberg as Daniela Panghy , also known under the former stage name Nela Panghy-Lee ) is a German presenter and actress of South Korean and Hungarian German descent. She became known as the presenter of various programs on the music channel VIVA from 2004 to 2005 and the lifestyle magazine taff from 2009 to 2014 on ProSieben . Lee has been running a YouTube channel since 2013 .

Life

Nela Lee is the daughter of a Hungarian-German resettler and a Korean nurse who met in Germany in the late 1970s. Lee grew up in Tettnang , where she attended the Montfort grammar school after finishing primary school in Manzenberg. In addition to school, she successfully took piano lessons from the composer and concert pianist Ivan Shekov .

After graduating from high school at Montfort-Gymnasium Tettnang in 2000, Lee first studied sociology at Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg until 2004 and completed internships at a PR agency and radio . After four semesters and having passed the intermediate diploma in business administration as a minor , she switched to a major and studied German and journalism .

After starting her presenter work at the television station VIVA, she followed this in 2005 with a move from Cologne to Berlin . With her involvement at ProSieben , she moved to Munich in 2009 and opened the “BÄRLIN” café with business partners in her hometown of Tettnang .

From 2002 to 2013 she performed under the stage name Nela Panghy-Lee . Since the end of 2013 she has only been called Nela Lee .

Lee is a Protestant and married her boyfriend Christian Kalusche on February 7, 2015. In March 2016, she became the mother of a son.

Moderation

In 2000 Lee took part in a moderation workshop from VIVA, in 2002 she made her first experiences in front of the television camera as co-moderator of the McClip Show at the music channel.

From 2004 she worked as a permanent presenter for VIVA, where she led initially through Interactive , later through other formats such as Star Search - Das Magazin , Interaktiv in School and the lifestyle magazine Inside . From the beginning of 2005 she presented the programs New and Download Top 20 as well as other chart shows at VIVA . In addition, from April onwards she was presenter for VIVA Club Rotation in the dance scene. In the same year, her employment at VIVA ended.

From 2005 to 2006 Lee hosted Fun Factory , a so-called “creative hands-on show” that was broadcast first on ZDFtivi and then on KiKA .

For the 2006 soccer World Cup , she presented the new, interactive Global Player format on ZDF in cooperation with the Goethe Institute .

On October 18, 2007, Lee presented the first German Kids' Choice Awards ceremony on Nick . At Nick, she was also the presenter of Alles Nick! With citizen Lars Dietrich . to see.

In 2007 Lee moderated the project “Strong Types” in various cities - including Berlin, Duisburg , Leipzig and Bremen - under the patronage of Ralf Moeller . The aim of the project is to give children in socially disadvantaged areas a positive attitude towards life. Together with Möller, she also visited the individual schools and answered questions from the students.

From May 6, 2009 to June 2014, Lee was the presenter of the tabloid magazine taff on ProSieben, often in double moderation with Daniel Aminati or Thore Schölermann .

On June 14, 2009 and May 23, 2010, she and Horst Lichter hosted the after-show celebrity party of Wetten, dass ..? -Summer edition in Palma .

Since September 26, 2009 she has hosted the game galaxy on Nickelodeon every Saturday with Marcus Werner .

Since December 4, 2010 Lee has hosted Das Haus Anubis Rocks Nick Talent on Nickelodeon . The format is a casting show for children with musical talent.

On September 20, 2012, Nela Lee hosted the live finale of the tenth season of the ProSieben casting format Popstars , after she had previously played a leading role in the ProSieben.de online documentation of the decision shows in Ibiza .

Since June 2013, the game show Clash! Boom! Bang! broadcast on ProSieben in Saturday late primetime. Here, two celebrities duel by letting teams of passers-by previously recruited on the street, for example, compete in games.

She moderated the second season of the casting format The Voice Kids in 2014 together with Thore Schölermann on Sat.1 .

In June 2014, she announced her departure from ProSiebenSat.1 Media and went to RTL Television , where in August 2014 she hosted the dating show Adam sucht Eva - Stranded in Paradise . The controversial dating show sends two singles to a lonely island, where they meet naked and are watched by the cameras, with Lee dressed. On March 1, 2013, she hosted the web event Last Man Standing , broadcast live by MyVideo , in which two groups of German Let's Players competed against each other in various games. A second part followed on November 30, 2013.

On March 23, 2013, she hosted the Let's Play Poker web event, which was also broadcast live by MyVideo and presented by Pokerstars.de , in which eight Let's Players and one wildcard winner competed for prize money that was subsequently donated to a charitable organization. A second part followed on June 29, 2013 and a third part on October 19, 2013.

In October 2013 Lee started her own YouTube channel NelaLeeOfficial , on which she has since published videos three times a week. There it has a reach of over 143,000 subscribers and around 5.4 million video views. From December 2014 she was a partner of Mediakraft Networks . She hasn't been on a network since 2016 .

Nela Lee moderated the video days 2014 in Cologne in the Lanxess-Arena together with Dominik Porschen and 2015 in Berlin. At the event, YouTube artists meet their viewers, give autographs and appear in a large stage show.

Guest appearances and miscellaneous

On March 14, 2009 and November 2, 2013, she was a prominent guest of Johann Lafer and Horst Lichter in the ZDF cooking show Lafer! Lights! Delicious! .

Since the end of 2011 Nela Lee can be seen again and again in connection with Korean K-Pop at ProSieben , where, as a half- Korean, she tries to bring the phenomenon of the Korean wave closer to the German television audience online and on TV .

In April 2013 she was a guest on an interactive webcam game show Web vs. Celebrity of the KiKA , in which she won several games played on the web against four spectator children and her prize was Kinderschützengel e. V. donated.

In April 2015 she took part in the VOX format Promi Shopping Queen on Mallorca and won the title.

Awards

In January 2015, Nela Lee won the “Cool is Everywhere - Germany” category for her YouTube activities at the melty Future Awards in Paris. At the Videodays 2015 in Berlin, Nela Lee won the PlayAward in the category “Beauty, Lifestyle, Fashion” with her YouTube channel.

In 2007 Lee made her debut as an actress in the ZDF telenovela Paths to Happiness . There she played in episodes 345 to 379 and 397 to 399 the role of Jane Sakamoto , Helena Bernstein's ex-assistant . In the same year she starred in the 2009 film Murder is My Business, Darling the Killer Mercedes .

Ecological commitment

Since 2012 Nela Lee has been an ambassador for ProSieben's GreenSeven campaign , which promotes sustainable living concepts.

She spoke the PETA video, which was released on September 25, 2012, promoting veganism . Nela Lee is no longer a vegan.

Lee is committed to the Berlin association Kinderschutzengel e. V., who says it is u. a. has set the goal of "making it easier for critically ill and needy children to stay in hospital, relieving them of their fear of operations, examinations and medical devices and alleviating their loneliness".

Together with the other faces of the station ProSieben , she has been promoting more tolerance in German society since 2012 as part of Tolerance Day . This initiative is supported by program content and short clips.
