Adam sucht Eva - Stranded in Paradise is a dating show on the German private broadcaster RTL based on the Adam Looking For Eve format developed by the production company Eyeworks . Seasons 3 and 4 were broadcast under the title Adam sucht Eva - Celebs in Paradise , season 5 ran under the shortened title Adam sucht Eva .

In July 2019 it was announced that RTL will no longer broadcast the format. In October 2019, the broadcaster RTL ZWEI confirmed a casting order (which does not mean a continuation yet).

First season

concept

At the beginning of each episode, a single woman paddles on a raft towards a tropical island and introduces herself. Near the shore she undresses and jumps into the water with a waterproof bag, the "Love Bag". A single man acts in the same way. They meet on the beach and stay naked during their stay on the island . After a night in the dormitory, a second Adam or Eve unexpectedly arrives. If both a second Adam and a second Eve arrive, the winner of a game organized by the moderator after the next night determines a candidate who has to leave the island. In each “Love Bag” there are personal items that can be used to impress others. The two Adam and Eve are given a task by Eve or Adam, which the single finds in a book on the island. Whoever has solved the task best in the opinion of the single will receive a single date. If four candidates were on the island, the task is omitted and a single date takes place with both Adam or Eve. After another night together in the dormitory, the clothed presenter comes in and lets Eva choose her favorite from the two Adam's or Adam from the two Eva's. Then the two singles meet for the first time in the vicinity of a tourist complex. Now, conversely, the chosen single can decide whether to choose the key for a shared hotel room for another day and night or to say goodbye now.

While the concept was first being broadcast on Dutch television, RTL was looking for “open-minded singles between the ages of around 20 and 40” through a casting company. In addition, applicants should not have participated in any other dating format recently. The film was shot on to French Polynesia belonging Atoll Tikehau on the grounds of Tikehau Pearl Beach Resort in the south of the atoll. The broadcast of the 4th episode, scheduled for September 18, was canceled due to a program change due to the early cancellation of the program Rising Star and took place two months later. The last two episodes were shown a week later as a double episode. In the last episode with four candidates, an Adam and an Eve got out early. Second season

concept

The concept underwent major changes in the second season. Two islands, called "Island of Temptation" and "Island of Love", now formed the setting. While in the first season each candidate only appeared in one episode, he stayed on the "island of temptation" until he was chosen by an Adam or an Eve for a couple on the "island of love" or one himself Was allowed to choose opposite. After a day on the latter, they got to know each other dressed in a hotel complex, and both could decide about further time together. There was no moderation, as in other dating formats, the protagonists, who appeared by staying in higher numbers per episode (up to six compared to up to four in the first season), talked about their experiences themselves.

Third season

concept

The third season under the changed title Adam sucht Eva - Celebs in Paradise started on October 1, 2016 with a double-length episode. In contrast to the weekly cycle of the first two seasons, the other episodes were broadcast on the six following days. Into You by Ariana Grande was used as a new theme song and as a transition to the commercial breaks. While the non-celebrity participants paddled to the island on a raft, the celebrities were driven to the island by motorboat.

The shooting took place again in May and June 2016 on the atoll Tikehau. The seven celebrities among the 18 candidates were Leonore Bartsch , Janni Hönscheid , Sarah Joelle Jahnel , Daniel Köllerer , Peer Kusmagk , Ronald Schill and Janina Youssefian . Of the other candidates, the bouncer and stripper Jesse Fischer with four casting appearances on Das Supertalent and the educator Chantel von Byrd with smaller film roles had experience in front of the camera. The stay on the "island of love" only led to getting to know each other in clothes after the stay of three couples in series 1, 2 and 6. A trio and a couple who stayed on the "Island of Love" in episodes 5 and 7 then returned to the "Island of Temptation". In episode 1, as the winner of a game by the three Evas, Jahnel decided not to spend a day on the "island of love" with an Adam of her choice in favor of another candidate. In episode 2 she no longer refused to win in another game due to the new Adams, the losing Eva had to retire. In episode 4 Fischer got out voluntarily after a dispute ; an Eva said goodbye prematurely in episode 6. In this episode, Bartsch had to leave the island as a consequence, because she refrained from going to the "island of love" with an Adam of her choice. There she was previously with von Byrd and an Adam, who the director had assigned the double date. In episode 7 there were four Adam and Eve each on the island, the latter had to choose their favorite Adam. Peer Kusmagk won the election with two votes. Fourth season

concept

The fourth season was filmed as a celebrity version on Tikehau and broadcast daily from November 11th to 18th, 2017. The title track remained Into You by Ariana Grande . The celebrities have now been brought to the island on a larger sailing catamaran . New on the "island of temptation" was a wooden tower as an alternative overnight place. For the first time, Patricia Blanco was a participant in all episodes of a season on the island.
