Love Island is a dating reality show that is broadcast on RTL ZWEI .

The format originally comes from the United Kingdom and was first broadcast there on ITV television in 2005 and 2006 . In the first seasons broadcast in the UK, the candidates were still celebrities, while in a remake of the show, which has been broadcast on ITV2 since 2015, the candidates formed the candidates who, like the celebrities, were presented in a beautiful setting. This was also done in the German version, which is moderated by Jana Ina Zarrella . RTL ZWEI aired the first season from September 11 to October 2, 2017. The second season ran from September 10 to October 1, 2018. The third season of the series started on September 9, 2019 and ended with the finale on October 7.

format

At Love Island , a group of candidates called "Islanders" live isolated from the outside world in a villa on Mallorca , under constant surveillance by video cameras. In order to be able to stay in the villa, one has to be connected to another "islander", whether it is out of love, friendship is the basis or out of calculation (the couple who remain at the end receive a 50,000 euro bonus). On the first day, the "islanders" pair up for the first time, based on the first impression. In the course of the season, however, the participants are forced to pair up again and again. You are free to decide whether you want to stay with your previously chosen partner or choose a new partner. The couples then have to spend time together, including sleeping in one bed together.

Any “islander” who remained single at the end of the show after being re-paired will be eliminated and thrown from the island. “Islanders” can also be eliminated through audience votes, as regular votes are held via the associated smartphone app, e.g. B. who is the audience's favorite couple or who goes best together. Couples who get the fewest votes risk being voted out of the show. Sometimes this task also has to be taken over by the other candidates. During the final week, the audience chooses which couple should win and can thus take home the 50,000 euros as a prize.

During their stay in the villa, every “islander” has their own smartphone, which they can only use to contact other candidates or receive messages from the broadcaster about upcoming competitions, dates or new connections. "Islanders" and couples have to pass many games and competitions and put their physical and mental abilities to the test. The winner will receive special prizes such as dating the partner outside the villa.

    Response
Just three days after the final, the winning couple Jan and Elena split up. A week later, Mike and Chethrin announced their separation, whereupon it was announced a short time later that Mike and Elena are now a couple. On August 1, 2018, their first daughter, Aylen, was born.

At the end of October 2017, Linda and Basti also separated, whereupon the relationship between Donna and Anthony became known at the beginning of November. The only remaining couple from the show are Stephanie and Julian, who soon announced their engagement. Together they took part in the third season of Das Sommerhaus der Stars - Kampf der Promipaare in summer 2018 , where they took fifth place together with Micaela Schäfer and Felix Steiner.
