Ansgar Denner (* 1960 in Weektiven ) is a German physicist in the field of theoretical physics .

Life

Denner studied at the physical institute of the University of Würzburg (1979-1984) and received his doctorate in 1986. His habilitation took place in 1991. He then did research at Stanford and at a university in Austin. In 1989/1990 he also worked at the Institute for Physics and Astrophysics at the Max Planck Institute in Munich. In 1991 he was a short-term professor at the University of Karlsruhe . From 1991 to 1993 he worked at CERN in Geneva. 1994/1995 short-term substitute for a professor at the University of Leipzig . From 1996 to 2010 he worked in the laboratory for particle physics at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) in Villigen / Switzerland. Since 2010 he has held the Chair of Theoretical Physics II (theoretical particle physics) at the University of Würzburg. He calculated the theoretical frequencies of the so-called Higgs bosons for the experiments at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
